An Aging Squash Fan

An Aging Squash Fan As a father watchful over the progress of a little girl active in a chosen sport.. Little wonder that I am a bag of nerves during competition time for the sport... That familiar awful queasy feelings churning in the depths of my stomach... And little twitches of restless energy that makes me such a nervous wreck... O how I suffer for this precious little girl of mine who tries with all her might... Each time she enters a squash court to once again try to win another fight... Was it only yesterday that she was a mere toddler, she is too young to play.. Heavens, that racket is way too big and heavy for such a small child to play.. Wow, did I see that? She did take a crack and her racket did hit that ball... She is only seven, but look at her boundless energy, she is still after the ball.. When it is game over, she is still in the court, taking one last hit in court.. After all the drills and play, she has not yet enough of the squash court.. Come on, girl, it's time to go home, training time is over and we have to go.. Come tomorrow, there will be more training and playing if you wish it so.. Yeah I know, you have a match soon coming up and you are all pumped up.. You would like to win, that I have no doubt, no need to be stressed out.. It is just a game, a win or loss will be the outcome, the better player wins... Of course it would be better than good if you should walk away with a win... Do you remember that very first match, the day you had to play for a win... The nervous energy you have had, and the anxieties before that win.. Well, it has been years since then and now you are now a seasoned player.... With the advancing years I have lost count of your many close fought matches... You have much grown in stature and is now well trained in this chosen game.. I have got to say, I have always enjoy watching you play, I am your greatest fan.. I have to be frank, it is such a strain to be somehow edging you on... The nervous energy and endless anxiety felt when it is a tough fight going on.. But when the push comes to the shove, be assured I am still in your corner.. A bundle of nervous energy, queasy feelings of trepidation and anxiety all over.. I may be stressed out, all worn out, but each time that you emerge a winner... I am reenergised, all ready to cheer and spur you on to be the next match winner ...
