Wyoming sure lacks common sense
To believe in Trump, but not Pence!
A bankrupt and liar
Can prey like a friar
Wyoming is spacious yet dense!
Happy National Parents Day (tomorrow, July 24) to all you Poetry Soup moms who are, ever have been, or who would like to be. And with this caveat...be careful what you tell your children. They often tend to be quite liberal with your meaning and quite literal in their interpretations.
My mama taught me manners
That serve me to this very day,
But there's one I never understood
Nor could fully quite condone.
Mama said:
"Don't slurp the soup,
And sit up straight,
And eat every bean
And pee on your plate."
I didn't question her advice…
'cause moms are never wrong…
But because of it,
Now I'll only consume legumes
When I'm alone.
So, mamas, when you give advice,
I urge you to be wary,
Lest your kid, like me,
Grows up to be
A victim of vocabulary.
Specious logic needs litmus test
Why not with love confer
If we think at ego’s behest
We spew on soul a slur
At all costs need to win
Cause of our hearts chagrin
Our soul tormented by sin
Outcome tragic

Quietus
Specious logic driven by our ego
Delivers to our heart, a near death blow
Consequences for soul catastrophic
Making this earth life hard, outcomes tragic
Pathway to freedom is to make thoughts slow
Nonchalant presence is always aglow
In tranquil calm, just going with the flow
No longer present where ego frolics

Oh hermit! The wisdom we wished to know
Reject fears and desires as they echo
Simply imbibe, the divine rays cosmic
Harnessing within instantly, magic
Do as we will, let us firmly say no

Erupting violently
Odd Conceptions
Chaotically dance
Within confines of mind
Rendering indecision
Empty answers
Sallow questions
Sluicing freefall
Over bottomless precipice
Panicked emotion
Building pressures
Rasping hard
For control.
Descending
Through austere winds
Terminal velocity
This raindrop hits
Exploding silence
Upon my forehead
Calming…
