once there was a pretty rose,
Wrapped around a garden hose.
Looking absolutely perfect in every way.
Bringing hope to a new day.

Destitute
Derelict
Despondent
Huddled wrapped
Cornered, wind abates
Infant slumbers
I wrapped up
those memories
and stored them
in the apex of my heart.
There they will remain, intact
and dry, even in storms.
