Why God Select You
Arthur Ashe-

A Wimbledon legend he,

Took him AIDS as mourning eyes like a Sea,

"Why God selected you for AIDS"? wrote one Ashe,

"When millions playing tennis, became champion I,see,

Then I didn't asked God why me",

Replied Ashe!...

Disappointed
I should be watching Rafa
In my Rafa hat and shirt,
But Wimbledon is at a loss
Because Nadal is hurt.

He won the quarterfinals
With an injury to cause
Some pain when he was serving
And it seems that gave him pause.

So he withdrew and all his fans,
Of course including me,
Are disappointed, knowing
In the finals he won’t be....

A new
day brings light,
each morning-
the window flowers come
alive

Inspired by a stainglass window picture

Federer
At Wimbledon, all dressed in white,
Is Federer, still at the height
Of tennis genius, a delight
To watch when he's in action.

Against opponents he will fight,
Displaying his athletic might.
His cool demeanor will not bite
At any slight distraction.

On Centre Court, in day or night,
His playing will the crowd ignite
And win or lose, he's most polite,
Which adds to his attraction....

Serena
Serendipity, sun do smiles
European titles in mind
Royally, I was at Garros
England, Wimbledon, my crowns
Nigh, the glory from Aussies
Arthur Ashe, the home in honour

When honours came calling
In contrast to their aims
Love the game, win to claim
Like Masada, majestic in beauty
In its flowers engraved my name
Angel, egg, the game I play
My hands the world is laid
Serena, my name is the game...

Tennis
Wimbledon is on,
you know that sport no one plays 351 days a year
nor follows 50 weeks a year,
and when any other sport or event happens it just goes unnoticed,
TENNIS,
yes the tennis season is here

most noticeably tennis is shared globally
no one base nor place
as though people don't want a regular tennis space

sports have seasons while tennis does not,
countries share it because 2 weeks is a lot....

Premium Member Andy Murray Reigns Supreme
Remember the 7th of July
2013 is the year
the hero of Scotland
was in his top gear

Tennis is his ace game
Wimbledon was his target
the final test was at hand
Novak Djokovic was all set

But Mr Murray raised his game
overcoming all that came his way
his opponent fought very hard
but Andy boy won the day

Now Scotland have a king
what a racket he does bring
in our eyes we have a gleam
arise Andy Murray supreme

Premium Member An Eclectic Summers Day Recited Structured Prose
AN ECLECTIC SUMMER’S DAY
Nuts arrive on the tree
is summer really on the wane?
School holidays still to break
and buddleia not yet in flower
for goodness sake!Runner beans
still to bloom,two weeks ago
it was still June and Wimbledon
passed without a monsoon.
Clover now covers the lawn,
bird song still greets the dawn.
Cricket upon our screens and
Summer,middle-aged and in between.

Hear me recite all my verse on youtube under my pen name ichthyschiro...
