Pirate
Bold fierce
Swabbing, looting, fighting
Ship, flag, chair, remote
Sitting, yawning, sleeping
Lethargic, immobile
Gamer
"Evil ghost phase" passing
Video game blues
Friends not brightest
To be human stirring within
God popping in, out
Weaving plan
Ability to help others
Form:
Eyes glued to screen
Ignore homework of teacher
Down load video game
Some rich becomes a tycoon
Cost younger generation
For the Video Game Played contest of Yasmin Khan
Always a
better day
cuddling with you
dilated eyes
each video game
formidable
giving us peace together
how's that for a date?
I am always at peace
just being with you
killing time with video games
bottleneck
gridlock
no go
five miles to the rest stops
tense grumbling
vultures are gathering
there are people out of their cars
screaming incoherently
like zombies
inside an in-car video game
avatars turn helplessly
in small jerky circles
Do you feel like
You are slowly being
Digitized, dehumanized?
Do you feel like
You are losing touch with
Reality, your humanity?
Do you feel like
An alien technology
Is invading your brain,
Turning your life into
A video game?
we sat on the couch
in front of the t.v.
both of us
were plugged in
we hit the power
and started
the game
we played for
hours upon hours
into the night
until finally
she fell forward
onto her lap
unsure of what
to do to help
i just left
....soon the rain will fall
skittles on my tongue
the garbage I will let sit
video game and popcorn
....soon my mother will call
i will hold my tongue
the garbage will be out
a healthy meal
.....soon, but not today
4 weeks more, till her vacation

My mind is...
Living through a blue fog
Falling down an abyss
A video game world
Simulation of life
Insecurities
Every mirror is a microscope
Tragic monologue
Unfinished screenplay
Fear of a smile
Routine movement
The withering of a rose
Vessel of a heart in a glass jar
Voodoo doll of the 21st century
Epic Fury
The epic game
the epic toys
army daydreams
toys for boys
what happens when
the sandbox grows up
the bigger the wallet… the bigger the wallop
no checks no restraint and… zero hiccups
the brand the launch the video game
where we non-player characters
can dance around a petrol fuelled flame
When was the last time we sang together or just sat together?
Just sit back relax and hear me out.
Today was just another regular day in the backyard.
You invaded my mind and took control of my game.
No it's not a silly video game but everything that I worked for just comes crashing down
with one little glimpse of you.
Career assessment test

Multiple choice test.
Choose your best answer.
Would you rather
Be to be a detective?
Video Game Designer?
Author?

Now who Is laughing?
I can look everywhere.
I have video game hands.
My face doesn’t exist.
I don’t need anything else…
Except hands.
For grasping.
There are no mirrors in here.
There are no mirrors in this world.
I’d rather just be hands.
Not a face.
It always starts the same.
With three chances.
With three choices.
I try my best every time.
Sorry, T.V., I got another screen to check-out.
Sorry, my bodily heart, but I have another hobby
To ruin you until death do us part.
Sorry, my friends, but I got a new addiction.
(And your intuition is wrong if you've
Guessed the words "video game".)
Sorry, druggy fools,
I am not an addition to your shame.
Sorry, mommy and daddy,
I've got my own new set of rules.
I am bored with math.
Two plus two always equals four.
Why can't it equal an ice cream cone
Or a trip to the candy store?
Four plus four always equals eight-
Never a video game,
Or a Disneyland vacation.
No, the answer's e'er the same!
One times one always equals one.
Where's the fun in that?
I'd love to see the answer be
A brand new baseball bat!

Lose yourself within a song
For many with music you can never go wrong
Go deep sea exploring as you dive into a book
Perhaps search for buried treasure with Captain Hook
Choose for yourself a different name
Become a different character through realms of a video game
Its so easy to get caught up in a world of all work and no play
Escape from reality and fulfill a fantasy on Halloween day
What?
In a minute.
Bing. Ding. Sing. Ming. Ling.
Pow!
Just a second, okay?
Uh-huh.
Bing. Ding. Sing. Ming. Ling.
Pop!
No, I'm NOT playing a video game!
Bing. Ding. Sing. Ming. Ling.
Mug!
Bing. Ding. Sing. Ming. Ling.
Crumb! It's a dud; the kingdom did not open.
What kind of stupid game is this?
Bing. Ding. Sing. Ming. Ling.
Pow!
No, Mom, it's not a good time. He can't hear you today.
Suppose we live in a video game world where
Somewhere, in another dimension, a teenager
Is manipulating us with a sophisticated control.
Consider, it is he who’s in charge of our existence,
Allowing us to move about at his will; and perhaps,
If he gets bored with us, he may easily zap us into
Oblivion by turning off the unit or go take a nap.

I have never even seen a Ninja
But I bet you didn’t know that, did ya?
I am just a peaceful soul
A video game “Black Hole”
You know your WiFi’s safe with me, don’t ya?
Although each Ninja has the same dark face
I won’t be inviting one to my place
All weapons confiscated
At the door; I’m elated
To keep Ninja warfare out of my space

Raised Iron works
thrust out of the blacktop.
Women-hole covers
appear; the tip of the spear
above new drilled silos.
Rubber slugs concrete.
Debora steers her way
through a slalom of
gender specific movements.
The road bucks under
her taught belly,
while fingers push
a wheel through
a video game maze.
Long laboring feminists
under hard hats
are digging her,
so she just smiles -
tries to relax.
In this hyper materialist era
We find ourselves in
Is there such a thing as a true soul?
Or have we all become
Nothing but fake souls
The rights to our souls
Long ago sold
To the evil masters of the universe
The secret programmers
Of this cosmic video game
We all live in
And our dear leader
Donald Trump
Has a fake soul
As he acts like he is robot
Trying to fake real human emotions
And usually failing miserably
Life is like a video game in a way.
The people are just code,
Programmed to do certain things by their creators.
Everyday is like a new level,
With new challenges for us to overcome.
Some people walk around trying to get more points,
While others go straight for the end,
And skip all the extras.
Life is like a video game,
Yes it’s true.
But there is a difference, because in reality,
You only get one life,
And then it’s Game Over.
In World of Warcraft
I have a cool character
I claim him the best
He can romp, rave with many
And kill hundreds of creatures
Mighty powerful
He can conquer bands of foe
And kill the undead
What benefit does this game
Surely do to my ego
Corruption inside
Is what I sure think happens
When what is undone
This game hurts more than it helps
I am unbeatable now…

Entrant into Gwendolen Rix's "VIDEO GAME EXTRAVAGANZA" contest

He is twelve and kind-hearted.
I agree to try another video game because I love him.
He keeps giving me glowing reviews.
“You are doing well, grandma!”
“You got a lot further than last time, grandma!”
Sometimes I know when my spaceship has crashed and burned.
Other times I keep pushing the kill button, thinking I am still in the game somewhere.
At one point he said, “Grandma, you can stop pushing the buttons now.”
Telling me that I had already crashed and burned.
You are now dead, but
still in my head.
What should I do?
You kind of reflect in my eyes
when I close my lids.
The deceased can't talk, but you do in my ears.
What's happening? It's so weird.
My throat gets dry when I swear
I will let throw you out from my brain.
My veins throb when I say, 'I don't want you.'
Is this a video game or someone playing a prank?
Am I brave that I still battle with a soul?
Or will I find peace, or will it shatter me into pieces?
