Pretend Listeners
It's very frustrating, pretend listening
Their unfocused eyes, glazing and glistening
And despite their wide blank stare
They don't notice my eyes and menacing glare...

Butterfly
A great beauty,
So simple and pure,
Flirting with the sun and the wind and the stars themselves,
A brush of breath.
It touches my face.
Like a baby's touch so light and unfocused.
So easily broken,
A creature of glass,
That the merest touch would shatter the illusion....

Grief
gnaws at my aching heart
greets my awakening,
grins within the sunbeams
gathers empty teardrops
garnished with memory’s
gaunt unfocused vision
goring life’s bloodied bull.

The Hand, Remorse
Eileen is sitting at the café entry side
Big table
Unfocused
It is around sunset
The blue is mixed
With darkness
I went out
To take breath of smoke
My ultimate orgasm
For Five minutes
Two cigarettes in a row
Three times.
An attempt to swallow
Eileen's face....

Part Time Poet
Is when mission impossible takes place
Is when control of the mind is a effort
Is when sharpening of the pencil is a chore

Is where there is a pause
Is where there is to be continued
Is where there is a yield sign

Is when creativity becomes a sleeping duck
Is when the taste buds becomes numb
Is when the eyes becomes unfocused...

The Sky and I
A tree can waver.

Releasing leaves, gently and silently.

Trees, they are graceful.

I am not graceful.

I am mysterious.

I am unfocused and confused and hypnotized.

Trees are different…

And that means nothing to me.

A poem that goes nowhere.

The way the sky goes nowhere.

The sky and I, we rhyme!

And that’s poetry....

Shutter Speed
shutter blink shutter speed

hold still i say, i will get the poloroid.

  shutter catch, shutter hold,
  some faithful happy side.

there is a golden resin in the air
and it settles in still time on
  square shells.

 thumbtacks and window light catalouge
are bright faces down the hall.

such a silly merchant desire kept
  in are eyes still unfocused....

God's Acre
Darkness envelops like giant wings
Heart thumping eyes unfocused,
Hearing nothing silent as a graveyard,
Under a misty moon a dark shape looms,
Grey, solid, shiny marble it's a cold tomb,
Paying respects with a nod then walk on by,
Respect to all those that are long gone,
All is clear the gate clangs shut,
The key turns in the lock,
Darkness envelops the graveyard once more...

Insane
no reason no rhyme
nothing but coffee and time
sit in a frozen moment
cruel words i begin to resent
was that a rhyme or am i crazy?
a little nuts, and a little spacey
no rhyme to be found
my mind is coming unwound
.....frayed taters of a broken mind, start to tangle, while they unwind, seep and drip...to the ground....below swirl and whirl, twirling....as they go....unfocused
and a little
lost
my sanity
was the
cost...

Let It Be
Who has not felt the aloneness
The uncertainty
of waking?

When eyes undefended
get a glimpse of the day's might
Alienated from the stillness of the night
Into a sight that is not quiet yet,

Probing around with unfocused gaze
Uncertain chill
into the light.

It is hesitation before the new
Of letting go
For staying is nowhere.

Let me be with you then
holding you gently within myself
you are my alleyway to the morning....

Premium Member Sunrise Shivers
Sunrise shivers
slowly streaking
frozen fields
grasses huddled
against icy winds.

Silent sparrows
hunker down
awaiting the angst
of an unfocused
feeble warmth.

A cat scratches
timidly
at the door
pawing
a cold draft.

Somewhere
that pesky grey squirrel
slumbers
cradled
in its fluffy tail.

Softly
a reluctant sun
tints
hoar frost hard edges
with golden
promise.

Through the Mist of Words
The eye wanders, warily, unfocused
Troubadours, lost, seeking poetic pen
Magical wand finding no hocus pocus
Minstrel, languishing, no verses to lend
Barbs squandered, set aside as precocious
Tragic? …No common, now take a new spin
Through the mist of appreciated rhymes
Poetic stanzas now dare to cross lines

Premium Member The Fire Rages On
The bandages that wrap my
Heart fibers are
Embedded in the music of
Fire turn rhythmically around.
I can't take you out of me like a
Rap humming tune unfocused and groggy
External driven broken clock.
Rage, within me, yet I cannot stop crying
And the terrors of the night are
Grim; being left alone to
Endure internal anguish. It
Seems impossible that you are gone.

Our souls were one, though I don't know why;
Now it's a tearful good-bye.

The Buddha
In the verdant sarcophagus of night
his pale, lifeless eyes unfocused
in a clearing irradiated by a cold beam

---the sitting Buddha

where he sits the forest dies
the grass withers

His pale light blinds me
So I write in inky darkness

But i cannot fathom him
or embrace with my eyes
his silhouette

In the crucible of morning
the sun rises like a flock of golden doves
but i cannot embrace the racing arc of dawn

Though through the viridian canopy
---shimmering coins...

Our Loss
You heart open teacher for some,
Smiling most times yet stern others,
Moments in time forever memory,
As if in a dream you fade away,

Your family pleads searching why,
Tears fall hearts heavy with pain,
Anguish meshed with emptiness,
Confusion, all thoughts unfocused,
Wanting answers none ever come,

Strength, resolve our only answer,
Feeling loss is forever demanding,
Knowing our rendezvous will happen,
Yearning for that time to transpire,
Reminiscence, our only task left,...
