From a rotund sun-hued idol spill commands both warped and wild
And armies rise from echoes of a tantrum thrown by a child
Ready to forget,
burning every memory
with this swollen wrath;
if I took it to my grave
unrest would be my sure curse!

Dumb within
A soldier’s haircut
Woman's skin
Driven children
Swollen tears
Bronze medallion
Wasted years
Hammer and nail,
After beer and ale,
Big red swollen thumb
My prize
Seemed that nail
Was doin' the hula,
Right before my eyes!
Look at bulls
in blue suits
well fed, swollen
from the humus
of peasant labor
Good soup
they would be
if offered
for cocktails
The moon
She creeps away
With the aging night
Swollen sentiment
Full to begin
Fading with the night
She'll be back tomorrow
A man alone,
Plagued by fears.

I feel a little small tonight
Swollen fingers shrink
With every outward growth
Of the big bad book
the winter winds melt into the swollen
rivers as she releases tender
children in a flourish of bird
song and the first breath of spring

ankles

cooking families meals

For those with brains up their colon

Always there
hidden close
thoughts on fire
lips swollen
eyes that bleed
mad dancing
kissing truth
still shunning
our echo grew.
A thousand fragile crickets
mindlessly lost in dreams and song.

the river banks are swollen
from heavy Spring rains
snow from up north has melted
and the fish are coming home
