Sizzling Summer
Sizzling Summer

Heat hotter than breath.
Gasps squelched while sweat tickles skin,
Flop under the fan....

Space Wars
I drove my car to the market
But there was no space to park it
I saw an hearse
Go in reverse
But squelched the urge to Clark Kent it...

Premium Member No Greater Grief
frankly, there is no greater grief
than the loss of a child
the anguish cannot be squelched or concealed
some say it diminishes over time
I do not believe this...

Eerie Sight
Coach Alan Brown was incredibly unique
At eighty he had an athlete's physique.
A fullback mocked his years,
Brown hefted him by his ears.
Since then mouthy jocks have squelched every squeak....

Premium Member Jealousy
She pointed her eyes at the photo and squelched my hopes with just four words "good luck with that" I was planning on turning it into a masterpiece but she made it look like I had just crapped on it Too bad I didn't see her shade of green, nor how she was so mean.

Wasted Lives
greater horror tale
may not be found in
tomes of fractured minds
as bloodied annals
of our history

Is human flesh
fully worthless
that on command
it's turned to dust

hopes and dreams
squelched midst screams
for glory

thus is
spoils of

war

Premium Member Your Guide
It’s your guide. Follow the light. It brings you out of the night. This enables you to see. The light reveals all that’s reality. Follow the light. It’s your guide. The darkness the truth will hide. The dark is squelched by the light. Everything is revealed in the daylight. Parise Pariku

Premium Member She Feels Shame
Bubbling over with enthusiasm
She feels shame
And stops herself

Oozing with excitement
She begins to shriek
But her mouth will not open

Eager to please
She has squelched her soul
So often that her mother is concerned

No one understand that the smothering
Was her mother’s doing all along
Including her mother...

Premium Member Belittled Bedraggled
Listen to poem:
Constant denigration
wears you down
you feel so small
as your efforts are
downgraded with cast-off scoffs.
Your pearls bedraggled,
lack lustre,
displayed dimmed and dulled,
squelched by doubt,
smeared in fear.
Duet performance discordant
sung in disharmony
with lead player out of tune,
tone-deaf.
Belittled, you be,
and bedraggled becomes you....

Premium Member Killing a Gemini Idea Is Not Easy
Gemini's ideas cannot be squelched.
They are not easily bruised or injured.
Even if you put a dent in them, they do not go quietly

There is squirming, kicking
Biting, scratching, screaming, stabbing
Gouging, pinching, hitting, and slicing

Even psychopaths and sociopaths
eventually learn to leave Gemini's ideas alone
Usually agreeing it is easier to go after another birth sign's ideas....

Premium Member Her Life Is About Making Money
Sticky unlovable gold holds her captive next to her crystal ball
Her life is all about making money; everything else squelched.
She reads fortunes with a plastered smile, pretending she cares.
Keeping her abject sadness to herself, eager to return to her home
So she can drink her sorrows into oblivion after she hands her man the money
A life chosen by her parents, one she will leave gladly upon death....

Premium Member The Dust Rises
In illuding dunes
chasing the mirage
the state of actuality infringed
by surrealistic perception.

The lattice of dream
crumbles on scorched sands
of ember time
hope squelched
by whirlwind of verity.

At the edge of darkness
dawning fortitude
beckons the zephyr
embalmed with philtre of oasis.

From the ruins of sphinx
the dust rises.

First Kiss
You scan the room
eyes meet
smiles are spawned

Blushes shared
sideways glances
embarrassment cascades

The dance has begun
awkward moments multiply
rituals are invoked

Stares become contests
flames of desire kindled
yearning turns to wanting

Time stokes the embers
into uncontrolled heat
that cannot be squelched

Days become longer
nights intolerable
until

That moment
where lips meet
and lust is born

Premium Member Sheer Happiness Aggravates the Naysayers
It is so peaceful today!
SHHHHHHH someone hisses.
You will ruin it.
But it really is a terrific day.
Three people give her a quick glare.
She laughs.
Not caring at all.
Optimism cannot be squelched.
She is in a wonderful mood.
Begins to sing Oh What a Wonderful Morning!
Loudly and proudly.
The naysayers are instantly in a bad mood.
Go home with glaring faces.
Silly co-workers.
She smiles at how well she can aggravate them
With sheer happiness....
