Sloth
Ev'ry day wasted,
Sleep all day long,
Overwhelmed, anxious,
Slothful--it's wrong.
Father, forgive me;
Help me, I pray.
Calm me, and make me
Useful today....

Slothful Thought
I get sins like lust and envy, but sloth? Surely a “sin” cut from different cloth! No evil harm results from indolence, Just a predilection for somnolence. July 1, 2022

Oh prolific warrior of the poetic sword, impale the slothful dragon with your words.
Give no quarter to the spirit of the lazy verse, challenge and subdue it,... then give
It to the serendipitous frog....

Till I Am Laid To Rest
If our life is predestined and our fate preordained
Why stress and strain, why live a life of drudgery
Oh, why toil in vain, why to the grindstone be chained,
Let's indulge in a life of slothful luxury.

A Gift
I discovered in me a gift
To teach a slothful brain to swift
In love,caution,in words so sweet
For success feet, a success feet

Neglected,yet,tis my passion
Homeless now to build great
mansion
Of lives drown and soaked in
great portion
Of books potion, of books
potion....

'Twas well-known that Gen'ral Grant liked his rum

But he knew how to make an army hum

Lincoln said that if he knew

         Where Ulysses got his brew

For his slothful gen'rals he'd order some!

Leisurely Easy
amid the dizzying busyness of business
neither should one live in panicky hurry,
cramming weeks into hours, years into months,

nor should one be slothful and sluggish,
rather be prudently quick to decide and act,
and then so leisurely slow to savor and enjoy!...

Weaken Your Strength
out of the noon slumber
slothful and torpid
solar rays beaming
down on us
the roar of the waves
half drunk in love
high energy portals
instigating tiny desires
you are the creator of your life
breathe into your strength
strengthen your weakness
and then
weaken your strength
you will be balanced
and hence
beautiful
her wisdom was caressing
the thin air

Premium Member Summer's Lazy Netting
Oh each summer one sport ever calls
Though my energy always just stalls
For I'm not but a menace
Playing hot, sweaty tennis
Just knocking the fuzz off old balls ...

So, how slothful can one hot guy be
In a hammock beneath a palm tree
Where all summer, I'll swing
Paying some goose to bring
The fresh ice for my Long Island Tea.

The China Clock
Time is precious
And a no friend of man.
From the rising sun of the dawn ,
To the creeping clouds of the dusk,
The slim fingers of the clock tick.
From the ancient China's candle clock,
To the recent weighs of wrist jewelry,
Time hasn't been a friend.
You beckon on it to wait a while,
With a secret thought of procrastination;
"I'll do it tomorrow".
It has no eyes to see your slothful face,
Neither does it have ears to hear your later hunger cry....

May is Mother’s Month

May is green
spawning inchworms.
I nest too
cleaning closets,

busily morphing
contrary to my wont.
Even the slothful move,
to her blossom song.

In a whistling fragrance
I recall how mother
loved lilacs and wearing
shorts to show a model’s leg.

This was her time, the spring.
Oh yes, and summer, I guess.
Fall and winter, too.

Quick now, the cycle is mine to ponder;
lo, youthfully to long for me
who follows me and calls me mother.

Swimming beneath a sunless sky,
Cherished melodies, serenade yours truly

Redolent of freshly baked loaves
Sun flare glistening on cinnamon skin ~

Graceful, striking dragonflies
Perform angelic, graphic aerial pageants
Brilliantly versed, competent displays
Flamboyant minuscule Red Arrows,

Slothful, reposeful disposition
Concealed beneath a thermal burrow

Happiness cannot be purchased ~
Brewing destined to be found
Such as the lost, buried treasures of Lima....
