simple pleasures lose their taste

their Rubicon crossed in criminal haste

Death
A
debt
we owe;
to nature
inevitably
The last walk into the sunset
It's a rubicon crossed; a point of no return reached
Inevitably casting it's grim, dark shadow and devouring all forms of life

Rubicons and Oubliettes
The threshold of my Rubicon,
a thousand times been crossed!
For though I've lost I've also won
at such a dire cost.
Locked inside my oubliette,
covered in frost, I cannot feel.
I pace and fret, and shan't forget-
I'm but a cog in a greater wheel......

Not So Cheery Clerihew
Edgar Allan Poe
Died in 1849, you know.
We heard his telltale heart beneath the floor;
Then quoth the raven: nevermore!
Napoleon Bonaparte,
His marriage to Josephine got blown apart.
Her barrenness: his Rubicon;
His name, he thought, should live ever on.

Clerihew
Of Kings and King Makers
The decisive die is cast
No rule is hard and fast
The Rubicon crossed and more
The Senate and other arms in tow
The Queen bee not to be rocked
Drones in hives,locked
The Emperor not at all shocked
As food reserves, de-stocked
The last Act and scene unfold
The conspirators, the Emperor scold
Daggers drawn; they await their fill
He gasps "and you, Brutus?" as they seal the kill...

Life Circles
My soul is vexed
Heart in limbo
Where is my “CHI”
Like the gathering of ash
Log like my prince laid
In life quest of his transition
To Immortality, spirit man
Future mourners cry
Worthy prodigal emerged
The flesh of his flesh
To take the baton
Silver colour pendulum will
Swing him to the Rubicon of Immortality
To complete his inevitable circles...

I do not know?
Gloomy Soldiers
Eyes like cynthia's brow
starin beyond the cloud
in a ruminative refine gaze
indelliblely staring skyward
the men of the shadow deviced it
like a rustling of a dry leaf
He has rustled up,
and cross the rubicon....
Man is now cruel..
Man is bestial and blustery
Man is now a canal beast..
O why ar you so cruel?
Even to the unguilty
Yes! He was not a hood
you take even the unguilty
when ravening like a wild beast...
For who to take next
In this gloomy world......

Pathway To Forever
Our misty eyes were destined for each other,
when at last we met at crossroads by the brook,
where voices in the sky did gently guide us,
up enchanting pathways known to but a few,
passed the prickly rose bush shepherds on each side of us,
the barren plains worn out by trampling hoofs,
over granite outcrops solemn crystal rubicon,
toward an ever arching slope that slowly rises above time and earthly longing,
to that peak beyond the sky where lovers dwell....

Prose Poetry
Words In Limbo
Ephemera hung from the philosopher’s stoned mind
A plethora of rubies dangled at the heart of suspense
Diaphanous souls mingled at crossroads of thought
Seeping miasma and fragrance cutting diamond’s edge
Archetypes flowing at the rubicon of incisive return

I chose the words in bold for no reason other than they came to my mind. Let me
call it stream of consciousness, or poetry in motion ......
