Sunday birds up early, brightly singing,
resurrecting their refrain -
releasing Sabbath rest
My life
My lust
For her
And her bust
Made me cave
From all the
Love I gave
Needle now
Not the same
Dare I refrain
A clock ticks away all its life
Unknown to the world outside
Does it like its refrain?
Our does it think it's all in vain?
The chorus unleashed
all heavens refrain
The passion released
—again and again
(Villanova Pennsylvania: June, 2016)
O
that I
will give thanks-
this poet's refrain,
again,again and again.
This resolution inspired by Ps 107: v8; v21; v 32
Poems
in shapely form,
displaying syllables
or stresses in a versatile
refrain.

Straddling the candle,
too close to the flame
A fiery benediction
—a smoldering refrain

The tree bears our names
Deep are the initials carved
A heart and arrow
Forever it will remain
So long after loves refrain...
the universe bestows mantras on us
which reverberates within our core
the cosmic refrain plays by itself
without our seeking an encore
rain steals the morning,
falling in degrees of gray
staining misty sighs
with hues of melancholy,
drifting with thunder's refrain
Arrangements of words can exist
So limericks end with a twist
This jolt to the brain
Is the final refrain
Of a punch line not to be missed
Straddling the candle,
too close to the flame
A fiery benediction,
—a smoldering refrain
(Grantham New Hampshire: February, 2017)
soul’s spontaneity holds not onto
imagery evanescent manifest
ever changing refrain of joy retrains
enjoying earth life fest in light jest
raucous red robins
rocking, rolling, ring refrain ~
redwood ricochet

The Russians have made it quite plain
Life is something that they disdain
They plan to destroy
Every girl and boy
In Syria and the Ukraine!
Sorrow is a dark well;
Each drop dripping,
Echoing throughout,
With the surety of a church bell,
Through its delicate refrain,
Instant Pain...
Form:
An excited priest on the train
Was found rubbing against the grain
"You need a giraffe
To service that staff"
Some Sisters laughed in refrain
If I could purge
that part of my brain
that stores pain,
I would replace it
with a soothing refrain;
Bach, Beethoven
or simply rain…
Some people don't give a flip
About what passes their lip
They really should refrain
From by-passing their brain.

If ideas grew wild like weeds
We'd curse each one that impedes
So, I vow to refrain as if 'tis decreed
No more wild ideas shall I seed
Repeat of the four-year refrain
Pits demented versus insane
We who are pundits
Say please call it quits
And would toast their obits with champagne
Softer than the summer rain
Are your kisses refrain,sweet-heart
