in life's labyrinths
we get adrift easily
yet we move forward
perching hope on a belief
of following the right path.

Premium Member PRAISING A MOCKINGBIRD

Autumn wings grace the stout limbs,
That quiver with the perching
Of mimicking mockingbirds.
Amid a lone live oak tree,
A bachelor sings to its
Intended in an endless
 Ebony Garden of stars.

Premium Member Bad Mood Dizzy Feeling Mad

Bad mood Dizzy
Perching bird in a tizzy
One toe pointed backwards,
Making him mad.

He thought he was different.
He thought he was odd
Until he met his Major Me.
Same claw arrangement on his dad.

A Blue Jay's Call

Blue jay squawk
Approaching hawk
Fly away Jay
Should not stay

Red tail perching
On the search
Wide span view
His skills askew

Fly away bird
 Alert we heard
 Safe, one in all
A grateful call

She Is a Butterfly

She's
a butterfly
beautiful and sassy
perching on every flowers

The Sunbird

perching on tender
floral vine...the sunbird sings
the lullaby tune

colors of tender
wings- compete with the flowers...
nature's mastery

the sunbird's song on
floral vine...scents and tunes
like milk n honey

autumnal colors
close neighboring planet skies
equinox sunsets

red hue leaves tussle
woodchuck pops from its burrow
dog sniff, yelps in pain

quiver across limbs
perching mockingbird's mimic
nightly shooting stars

The Ruined Stone-Walled House

Drops of dawn
perching on the ruined
stone-walled house.

The ivy tirelessly
spreads its hug
around the walls,
a scaffold for the dreams
to build new life
upon their forgotten
existence
like music
fallen into oblivion
long ago
and now risen to life
again.

They Fly Without Perching

Nationalism flies without perching
no runway to land

Patriotism roams without perching
no heart to rest in

democracy flies without perching
no democrats to receive

And they continue to fly without perching
no space, no welcome

This is Africa

Untitled

Crossroads
dissect my life.
My thoughts
implode...
wrong
or right?

A tear,
above,
falls here
for love.
Mine eyes
bleed bitter blood.

A dream/
a hope
await
their burial.
Painting portraits
of me
perching
headlong
on my grave's edge.

The Eagle

Soring through the sky,
Spreading your wins,
Seeing the site,
In three dimensions,
The eye of an eagle,
Beautiful creatures they are,
The wing span they have,
Could cover you up,
Perching on a cliff,
Looking at the view,
A wonderous site,
A picture for you.....

An amazing perching songbird, the males are bright, lively and striking to see, a splash of color in Canada's winter snow. Can survive in the coldest of temperatures somehow, to sing beautiful whistling songs repeated over and over from a bare tree top.

Child and Bird

Imagine perching in that huge gum tree;
I would fly and see for miles,
just like that currawong that slides
between the misty air and dewy grass.

I wonder if that currawong,
inside his bony-birdie-head,
would ever wish that he could be
a walkie-talkie-kid like me?

Premium Member Brilliant Birds

beaked passerines have the best kind of toes
one pointing backwards, three pointing toward nose
ideal shape for perching on twig or a post
skilled fliers diving for left over toast
most feed on insects and bird seeds of some kind
excellent singers and many have a brilliant mind

Premium Member The Skylark

miss your sweet chirping
where are you perching?
tiny bird cute and lovely
soar in sky once more
trick flight we adore
singing and throwing googly!

in greens hide away
humans have less sway
make for loss of habitat
but preserve your class
moor, dune, farm or grass
but sing again ta ta tat!

Premium Member Springtime

Sunny days, azure skies,
green grasses do reveal,
springtime before our eyes,
of natures free will,

As honeybees are searching,
nectar for their fill,
songbirds are perching,
in melodies of trill,

Breezes are sending,
springtime freshness in the air,
flowers are lending,
such beauty everywhere!
