Memory

Memory is reality,
is what I find,
plastered to the cracked back walls
of my soul.
When I peel off the old wallpaper,
and the walls come crumbling down.

Layers

What lies beneath
sometimes could be
a precious pearl.
Even those
who are ignorant
or that vain,
the right person
can come along
and peel off those layers.

Suspicious Performance Was Permiscious

Suspicious Performance Was Permiscious

We surely seemed to become so suspicious;
Trump did peel off clothes as if deciduous;
With pillow plush,
On had crush;
Was part of his plan of being promiscuous.

Clown Frown

I made you smile
You laughed out loud
When I was kicked in the pants
You had your fun

I played the role for you

Now that the shows done
And I am out of the ring
I peel off the mask
Put on another

You may now squeal

After Child's Birth

Mother's thinking
Like shrimp peeled
Off chili cells.

Mother's also
Peel off chili
Aft giving birth.

Aft mother's birth
Pregnant mother
Will bloom again.

True joy is back
Aft mother's birth
Home whole again.

Susan Lawrence

The artist Susan Lawrence
Can quickly let down her hair
And peel off all of her clothes
To dance in the open air

Her lust for life is endless
But always pauses to paint
Leaving us all VERY grateful
The artist was not born a Saint!

The Written Assurance of Life

Murmurs of doubt peel off the page
Lost lesions flee from snakeskin
An endless stymied spiral recedes
As coarse winds blow apart overgrown weeds

The scattered feelings of yesterday
Are embalmed from a smooth drifting marvel
Renewed to pursue this grand calling

caterpillar

for you i am whatever you want me to be.

i would morph myself into a butterfly if that's what you want.

i would peel off this skin i already possess and sew on a new one.

i would forage in the forest for wings and attach them to my back.

is that what you want?

have i been a caterpillar for too long?

Strip-Show

Ah my dear girl, how you show hidden treasure
In awesome and innocent ways
Small actions spark cold, thrilling pleasure
I pant at your power displays

Legs crossed to perfection, so cruelly they mock!
Lithe hands tug the cuff of blue jeans
Toes pointed slightly, you peel off your sock
Revealing your bare naked dream

Staring At Wet Rings

Lazily I stare at wet rings on the table
One for the bottle and one for the empty glass
The bottle lies still as I peel off the label
And hope that her leaving like all bad things will pass -
I smile through tears as I drink to that blue eyed lass

In sync with your cadence
Your heart pounds
Your blood as hot as your rubber
Every molecule so engorged
Sweat alone separates you from your chrome
While you peel off a spoke fine line
Through rush hour traffic
Tearing a strip off of death

High
On a deadline

Start, Stop

Remove the dead leaves
Peel off the old layers
Start all over when it all falls apart

Remove the medications
Peel off the dermal patches
Start all over when you have a broken heart

Retrace your steps
Pack your belongings in a case
Stop fighting all the good intentions

Retrace your roots
Pack your life into your bag
Stop wishing for the future, there is none.

Color Change

from known to known
fear moves
in a circle, like a cheetah ;

a jounery starts
from shivers to shivers –
when it was pouring

the taste of sting
ascending
loosening beside

between the lips
a word strieks,
terror spills from a naked eye,

you move inward
peel off the face
the eternal shame

of mankind, a hunger will miss
the date with a chameleon

Small things were
witness to genes
of freak mutation.
Tooth in eye
becoming boat in blindness.

Witch hazel
fails to stop leakage.
Thumb with beads of lymph
stung high in stillness,
wants to peel off
the concept of injury.

A brace
stops the smile.
Blue-chips have nothing to offer.
A king had hemophilia.
Timbers drip the blood
from heartwood
drop by drop.

ANTE MERIDIAN

I didn’t have my coffee
I didn’t smoke my cigarette
I don’t face him – I am too bitchy –
so many words in the marriage
they come out like glazed ants
irrational “good morning”

I understand my womanhood
in an amazonian way
an I placate my own voice
in the exertion of waking up

he dances a kiss on my cheek
to peel off the numbness
and dulcifies the leap
from dream to reality

How many layers should you peel off an onion?
I often stomp in the salad
                      yes, until it is inedible
                      In confidence _ to risk

Trust must always lie with the bottom up
                      The gears are spinning
                      Call me naive
I believe ... until proven otherwise

Have You Ever

Have you ever wondered
What it would be like to kill

To stab stab stab
Feel them bleed against your skin

Ever wanted to shut them up
Not with tape, but with no tongue

Ever thought of how beautifully a knife cuts
Or how perfectly it would peel off skin

Ever wondered how blood gushed that wonderfully
If you snipped snipped snipped

I dont have to wonder
I've got my knife and it's looking for a kill.

Caught In the Lens

The ebony night crawls
With its webbed feet
On my distressed mind,
To peel off my fusty clothes,
From my fatigued body,
Stinking me like the putrescence
Of my time, and of my life,
Feels me then
As light as feather
Floating up into the azure.

Before my inner eyes,
Barely exposed I’m
In my living portrait
Caught in the lens of camera
Zoomed in and out
To perfect my image
With my own personal touch
Just for hanging in the wall
Of my living room.
