Natures Song
Trees bend as if doubled over in pain
beaten and battered by gales, wind and rain
a sky undecided all patchy and grey
I watch and wonder at nature's way....

coming and going
the sound of waves
at ocean's edge

thunderstorm
wind and rain
embracing

damp evening
through patchy clouds
a star now and then

morning rain
the moonflower

Premium Member Cloudy With a Chance of Stories
the tortoise-shaped cloud
as tall as a skyscraper
and a half as wide
floats slowly across blue sky
with no hare-shaped cloud to race

patchy cloudy sky
with shapely stories to tell
hare-brained ideas
and the tortoise will always
slowly and steadily win

Premium Member Urgent
Messy stains
In refrain
Sad complain

Vivid spot
In harsh lot
Beyond thought

Rush around
Lost and found
Patchy grounds

Sleep comes late
By the gate
In sad state

Linger near
Loiter here
In odd spheres

Premium Member Tires Straight
On my 60" HD TV.
I saw a ragged child with a sunburst smile.
Wearing a patchy blue dress
more dirt than fabric on it.
For fun she was rolling a bent bike tire.
With a thin stick down a dog-eared road.
Somehow, she kept the ancient tire rolling straight.
She kept the tire on the straight....

Goin' Short Side
Wearing love’s unbalanced bow
elegance lost in a long distance

A scrambled discord in each era
Lost chapters leer, at every goal
Last of heart’s patchy piecemeal

Going a shorter way is tempting
Only, soul knows it cannot be so…

Hero
First light’s companion
Warm sheets and lovers embrace neglected
Tired boots slid on by tired feet
Patchy overalls with smudgy name tag
A quick kiss and out the door
Into the morning
Switch flipped, card punched
Onward and outward
25 years next week
Never missed a day
Reliable as the tools in the box
Solid...

The Spotted Cat
Weighed down by it’s skin
Pelt heavy, it sat.
Loneliness whittled it thin
T’was called the spotted cat

A mistake from long ago
Left it wounded and hurt
Now lives life on the lay low
Blood mixed with the dirt

Its fur was quite matted
Patchy it still was
Skills fallen out of habit
Closed eyes, tired paws....

Premium Member A Water Scene
High mountains reaching upward
Trying to touch the fluffy clouds
Evergreen trees below these mountains
On the other side the same view
The lake is very calm and clear
Boaters rowing enjoying the view

An island is spotted-it is long
With evergreen trees growing
The ground is flat and patchy
No one dwells here
It is a breeding ground
For the birds to nest...

Spinning
Head throbbing
My health it is robbing
Throat is scratchy
Voice is patchy

Nose is running
This is so not cunning
My nose is red
Pain in my head

My body aches
Dang, the pain stakes
Things are spinning
I am never winning

So just let me sleep
For at least a week
I am in the sic zone
So leave me alone

While I get over this illness
And overcome my brain's stillness......

Happy Skin Bad Hair Day Only 1 Thing In Common
She has spotty skin

Whereas he has warts on his

He has freckles

She has boils

One's too oily

One's too dry

He is too pasty

Her's is too dark

She is too yellow

One's is patchy

The others too red

Yet for all of these many differences

There is one thing they all have in common

Is we are 1 and all

Universally unhappy in our own

Skin , within and without...

Late Autumn
The snow bites into another hour
and it is icy, unrelenting force
into our patchy green lawns,
our garden of bluebells and thyme,
paddling the holes on our street--
does late autumn know I have been watching
when her bite reflects a slew of careless whim?
and she tilts her head back to freeze the sun--
does she know that her coldness
breaks my polar eyes
into a hundred lenses of mist?...

Premium Member Symbols
Notes in rough draft,
Words stage ideas;
Thoughts await craft,
Wordplay sparks clear.

Lines of crisp rhymes,
Words now patchy;
Feel in sure time,
Deep sense catchy.

Deep moments slot,
Plain feelings spore;
Fragments flood lot,
Glimpse something more.

Symbols now mint,
Tokens of feel;
Odd signs can hint,
Watch touch reveal.

The Wifi Blues
It's working in the laundry
It's working in the hall
But when I'm in the office
It doesn't work at all

It's terrific in the lounge
And good on the patio
But in my favourite chair
It just doesn't want to go

Sometimes it is sneaky
And it drops out quietly
So I annoyingly find
My data's used entirely

Sometimes it is patchy
But at others it is fine
My WiFi's temperamental
And I'm in the firing line!...

Premium Member Demon Cloth-
Demon Cloth

My shadow wears
a translucent covering
his feet trend in brimstone sandals
the robe he wears engulfs my eternal soul and hides my spirit woes
His hair is like flames of silken fire
flowing liken smoke rising
My shadow is a demon
like a patchy cloth filled with lust
surrounds my body like my natural skin
he's ever present and he smells of physical death

Premium Member Feeling Fine
Late evening stupor
Seize a bitter flavour

Write my odd verse awake
Cite words for goodness sake

Sleepy eyes glimpse new lines
Loiter with teary brine

Espresso cuppa reach
Coffee ideas now teach

How can feeling fine grow
Feelings I ought to know?

Caffeine fix fronts fancy
Picky patchy squarely

Dream within a bad dream
Word for word flickers stream

My Dog
I lost a precious associate,
my dog Bumfuzzle,
no one left to teach me unconditional love,
and there is no one to bark.

I've known you since you,
were just a patchy little puppy,
I watched you grow into,
a good-looking bow-wow friend.

I'll always think of you,
I'll keep your memory alive,
the painful memories,
that has left an ache in my heart.

But now it’s over,
you're gone forever,
all I have is your picture in a frame,
on my wall as remembrance....

Truth meets fancy,
Spills awkward trace;
Sense thoughts messy,
Pique out of place.

Beauty speaks well,
Words cannot say;
It's hard to tell,
Thoughts merely sway.

Trying works brief,
Yet tells not much;
Know cause of grief,
Words miss true touch.

Verge on the groove,
Struggle now shows;
The target moves,
Patchy odd flow.

Words on fresh lease,
Correct yet wrong;
Decay quits ease,
Error flames strong.

Nature's Face
A quiet man carries forth a bucket
Filled; it is colored of desire, red.
His slow approach to the patchy field stirs
A family, a pack of goats he's bred.

He slips into the gate, slips out silent
As before, his bucket emptied to fill
The empty bowls of his hungry animals.
He moves on to the horses, empty still.

All the goats are eating except for two,
The father makes the babies wait their turn.
To fight, not flee, when nature shows it's face:
A life lesson with little time to learn....
