First light’s companion
Warm sheets and lovers embrace neglected
Tired boots slid on by tired feet
Patchy overalls with smudgy name tag
A quick kiss and out the door
Into the morning
Switch flipped, card punched
Onward and outward
25 years next week
Never missed a day
Reliable as the tools in the box
