a strand in your hand
attached to a dream
that pulls snarling bulls
into the bit stream
to squeeze with decrees
most narrow in scheme
so thought overwrought
can crush all esteem....

Purple Lows
An overwrought poem, I suppose
Might go florid describing a rose
But there’s something much worse
Than an overblown verse –
It’s the mind from which flows purple prose.

Caught Being Fraught and Overwrought
Caught Being Fraught and Overwrought

Some more poems to write we had sought;
Did became upset and then were fraught;
On and on,
Had gone;
We ended up mad and often overwrought.

(Not overweight.)

Overwrought So In One Arm Shot
would have a great thought
when in both arms overwrought
so same one was shot

Just had our combined
FLU/COVID shot, I had
both of mine in left arm.
Wife had one in each
arm. Only my left arm
is sore while both of
her arms are sore....

We Do Not Wish, None of Us
We do not wish, none of us
In raising, to harm
Less a hand, a slapping thought!
As much who gives, who receives
Oft for the shock grieves.

What can we say, fellow trees?
World-facing, cower.
Of the same overwrought force
A gale's, for each other's mood
Met with. That cold; crude....

Overwrought By Hamas Had Been Shot
will end when and where
have been many lives to spare
be kind and take care

many overwrought
by hamas they had been shot
so much sin was sought

lying and beguile
blew up buildings mile by mile
killed a little child

list of sins surpass
many body bags amass
where will it all end

will read this weekend
solve problems do intend
many minds must mend...

The Sleepwalker
His eyes stare blankly through me
Then he coldly turns aside
Though tenderness once drew me
Cold dispassion he can't hide.

Abandoned in the dead of night
Alone and overwrought,
Indifferently my love takes flight
As if I count for nought.

I know he will return to me
I feel no deprivation
For I've become accustomed
To my man's somnambulation.

loaded
           full of crap
not nearly enough
                                     powder
                awesome
screams overwrought

breath in and out
like
                             hiccups

the coo of a dove
            eyes follow
what dangles

from your fingertips
and
                          love

flows freely
    released
by a sucking sound

Dented Cans
Lifelong series, proliferation of dreams
Procrastination pushes cans to rear shelf
Crushed pineapple replaces peaches and creams
Depleted pantry unenvisioned of self

Back burners overwrought iron pans of sin
Awaiting an opener, woman of tin
Lifelong series, ambitions, intended plans
Plentiful in could haves, instead, dented cans

Chroniker
Upon the object of desire
Overwrought the eye had been set
Flaunting that of what’s required
Needs that never once had been met
Minute by minute I would yearn
Infinite hunger had risen
In my slumber nimble I’d turn
Vivid her outline would glisten
Miles and miles I’ve traveled
Though a greater distance awaits
Forth may said conquest unravel
Everlasting may we equate
Redundant be such secrecy
Prosperous be thy recipe...

Methheads of Mo-Town
Oh, just live for once in your life.
Oh, just die for once in your life.
Overwrought by confusion and strife.
Overtaken by a magical, mysterious phenomena.
Memory of mad months, memories of unexplainable phenomena.
Skin and bones are colliding, phenomena's not playing fair!
And you wonder if in the beginning you thought to care.
Plea to the gods of giving, recovery is rare.
Another statistic ... Another Methhead of Mo-Town....

Unspoken Words
Words will never convey my thoughts
What I so want to say to her
It often leaves me overwrought
My mind becomes a hopeless blur.
Her comely grace and pleasing eyes
Her sweet amicability
Leaves me goggle-eyed and tongue-tied
when I look upon her beauty.
At home I think up words to say
Articulating syllables
Spoken in a well mannered way
But deem them unacceptable.
The hardest thing for me to do
Is utter three words, “I love you.”...

Hotter
It’s hotter than a frying pan
And hotter than the sun.
It’s hotter than it’s been
Since record-keeping was begun.

It’s hotter than a lava flow
And hotter than a fire.
It’s hotter than a couple
Who are burning with desire.

It’s hotter than the desert,
Even hotter than a chili.
I know that these comparisons
Are overwrought and silly…

But that is how I’m sure it feels,
At least it would to me,
If I would venture out and leave
My icy-cold A/C!...

My Friend
you're the kind of friend
I'd buy though not on sale
the best that I can find
the one I put through hell
I hope you'll stick around
but only time will tell

you're the kind of friend
I run to when all goes wrong
you put me back together
with comfort that is strong
dry the tears I cry
when I am overwrought

you're the kind of friend
that needs to wear your boots
when I get way too deep
like a pc that needs reboot
a few of the things I love
about a friend like you...

LETS TANGO
LETS TANGO

Nobody said, Let’s go to war
But an invasion, well I never
An Atlantic territory, remote
Who’d respond, they thought
Or perhaps get overwrought
Eight thousand miles by boat
Surely a link one could sever
As we’d not bothered before

For Argentina, a big mistake
The UK was much offended
Assembling ships and troops
Going to recover our islands
Even if it took some violence
To conquer, the Lady stoops
A few months later, it ended
Falklands never theirs to take
...
