One Sided

There was a pirate from Limerick

Who had a hook on a wooden stick

He stole with one hand

Now it’s contraband

Sold by a one-eyed Bolshevik

Cook County Jail

I’m in Cook County Jail and don’t know why
All because of a devious lie
When I bend for the soap
It’s the only one not on a rope
The one eyed pirate gets a poke in the eye

One Eyed

You are who you are
That is how it should be
Perish the thought
You might have been me

That's not possible
I say that with glee,
There is only one I
And that has to be ME
Form: Rhyme

One-Eyed Owl

a new full moon
is a one-eyed owl
gazing upon my road
by the river, near the sea.

it quiets down
the caged chaos in me
as i step on my shadow
by the river, near the sea.

She Pirate Thatch

She Pirate Thatch

A one eyed pirate named Thatch
She couldn't find clothes that would match
As she went through her closet
But found no composite
So, decided to wear just her patch

Our love

Once strangers
our love is flirtatious
one-eyed winks
sexy smiles
a little shake here
a little shake there
now lovers
with a lifetime of
endless promises to each other
can you imagine if we never met

Whippoorwill Jumping Jack

Whippoorwill jumping jack
Putting daisies pretty
A lonesome road
A one-eyed toad
Painting butterfly city.

Monkey magic is tack.
Bright moonbeam sorely gone.
Upside down me.
Where is your fee?
Whippoorwill jumping fawn.

A Pirate Named Fred

There was a one-eyed pirate named Fred
Who wanted to reform and get wed
The wench who took his measure
Had got used to the treasure
So she shivered his timbers instead

The Lettuce Workers

The Lettuce Workers

Somewhere in California
a midnight one-eyed bus shoots

lettuce farm past lettuce farm
to abutment and a kiss.
Now the morning papers cry

15 sleeping Mexicans
glowed an hour or more.

Plopping On One-Eyed Frass

is there such a thing as one-eyed fr.ass?!

Huh.

Maybe, maybe not

ha. Do (doo? does?) frass even have eyes. I think not!

Sure looks pretty though...

if I were given the chance to choose what my poop looks like,
I'd choose frass!

How the Deputy Got Sunder Loaded

Four hooves at the ready
one-eyed tall snorting
he one chewed cigar puffing
left on the rope
right wrapped round horse ear
eye to eye staring down
the trailer at once prize and prison
pawing the air no more
carried by an ear into darkness
Old Smoky the victor again
Sunder was loaded.

Animal Antics

I recall a time past when my Tuesday was smitten,
(Before being neutered she was my little sex kitten),
With a big one-eyed cat, my orange cat Popeye;
In heat, she walked beside him
With her front scrunched way down
And her butt in the air
And an urgent come-hither look in her eye.

LA Palm Trees At Night

Cryptic
Mystic
Royal Eyes
Dark green Eyes
Dark green
Shining Eyes
Each one - eyed palm
The palms have eyes
Each Palm has one
Open in the moon
Closed in the sun
At night
High up in the air
Eyeballing obvious
Whatever they dare.
Festival !

Eyes that open in Palms at night
Eyes that shine in white Moon light.

Crippling Fears

Xenophobia is a one-eyed monster,
the fear is so debilitating
that home is all the world one needs.

But when fear of strangers turns to prejudice
against people from other countries,
it's time to analyze the problem at its root.

When do we stop feeding the hate
that's rampant in this world of ours?

One Minute Man

A bouquet of flowers,
Or the calm of the woods

I felt one eyed willy in my rib
In an instant you became the minute man
In my midwinter dream
I smile and then I kiss your neck
As you whisper, honey “I hope you’re not upset.
Darn! I am so ashamed of this one minute man.
Viagra is all I can say…..to you

I still love you. Happy Birthday

They Should Meet

A middling, one-eyed person,
yet one thinking she's sexy,
seen cussing a too fast car
in Carson City.

A one-eyed, middling person,
yet one thinking she's sexy,
seen cussing a too slow car
in unknown city.

Winter Fog

WINTER FOG

Grey fingers soft as a pickpocket’s
Kingdom of the blind
With no one-eyed man

People appear and disappear for a moment
Ghost visitors to the realm
Steal in and out,

And are lost.
Feet pressed to the ground
Are the only assurance

That sooner or later
The robbed land will reappear
And the abdication of the sun will end.

Feeling Free

Betty was muched delayed
said she came from play
hadn't heard the news
Wistful and loose with her one eyed plan

If she had a talisman from the sea
she'd jump for joy
Going to ride on a galloping horse
cause she has a lot to say
yet hadn't the time to choose
going to see the porcelain man
and tell of her erstwhile plans
of feeling freer than before

Don'T Play Cards With Billy

Billy has a deck of cards
I don’t know where he got it
I’ve never seen a deck like that
I don’t know if he bought it.

It’s a special deck of cards
With fancy font and faces
A couple extra kings and queens
And something like 8 aces

He plays poker all day long
With scrawny “one eyed Willy”
And everyone will say the same..
Don’t play cards with Billy.

I Solemnly Do Declare

I solemnly do declare
That I had wet me underwear
I got an awful scare
It was pink and purpley and bare
When I looked inside there
And had a mane like a mare
With a one eyed snakey stare
I actually screamed, I swear
When I noticed the neglect and care
It was as big as an ant bear

Until it said "Get a life"
I said "Phew" the thing in the bed is just the wife
Good night

One-Eyed Iguanas

I once met some natives from Bahamas
Both men had the same size BIG iguanas
I was embarrassed - to say
I felt very SMALL - that day
When I saw them pop out their pajamas

EPHEMERA

A flattened rose mumbles
An old cracked button chuckles
Tickled by a 2nd place ribbon
In the corner a tattered doll weeps
Comically consoled by a one-eyed bear
Ballet slippers long for a pointed toe
A dried corsage sits inside a dusty tiara
A leather-bound diploma shouts success
A tear stained letter sorrow

For joy and sadness are but fleeting moments
Imbedded in the soul of ephemera

Uncle Charlie

Uncle Charlie Miracle Man 6/13/2022 He was older than old Dick Tracy, more informative than a Sear’s catalog. The stories he told were often racy, but his life was taken by a one eyed dog.* *A greyhound Bus with one headlight, that came streaking across the land. It mangled his body, what a gruesome sight, he died with his cane pole in his hand. Not really. LOL

And Muses

AND MUSES:
Upright standing on far, distant shores
Doth it be my old friend there
Over the sea?
Standing quietly grown out of books I write
Do they find any favor in your one eyed sight?
They that condemned me and laughed
With devouring looks
Because you never admired my books.
Oh I like you, sweet side seen
Hidden to others, yet only for me.
With heavy hands and muses.

Unborn Song

The robin's egg rolled far away from haven tree.
A wee devil's hole in its side.
I took a one eyed peak...nothing left inside.

What to do with such a perfect shade of broken blue.
Feed it to the trash heap hag.
To spend its final days with rotting fruit and metal rags...

So, I placed it gently on a nightstand.
Aside a windup clock.
Now I'm playing mother bird.
To caged time and unborn songs.
