How To Know A Friend:
A Friend Visits, Now and Then
Seeing How You Been
Better health eludes me.
I tremor daily and fall.
Needing help now I foresee.
Pray now, and then stand tall.
Written 7 - 10 - 2016.
Bells and chimes
every now and then rhymes
soothing,betrothing
of nature's time....
If actions prove
sentences are simplified
there's no need to explain
so author encounters questions
that cannot be proven
now and then.
May we be blessed to stop for a moment
It matters not where or when…
and remember to hug the child still inside us
every now and then
May we be blessed to take a moment
every now and then
and stare….
out the window of our world
and enjoy all the colors we see there.
What often makes this trip so alluring and appealing
as on the river of life we drift…
is how every now and then
Fate loves to hand us…
in the rain under street lights
the silence falls to the background
i think of you and i am never alone
AP: Honorable Mention 2023
More years have gone by
Than years we were together.
It's the little things
That I recall, now and then;
Paying bills, morning tea, and . . .
May we be blessed every now and then
(I suggest to least one a day)
to find the child inside us
give them a hug…
and let them come out and play
Every now and then one should step outside their comfort zone tolerance,
discovering they are no longer stagnant, complacent, unmotivated or ignorant.
a sparkling morning
now and then cool drizzling rain
flowers from your pen

Now and then, the misty
depths of her failing mind
clear for a brief moment;
and then she can recall
the beauty that she was;
and to me, remains so.
It hangs in my window
And catches the light,
Turns now and then in the breeze,
As I sit or nap
It disappears with ease
Then turns with a golden glow.
Poets are a special breed
who share their thoughts
and emotions through rhyme.
Now and then
you can sense their pain
when you read between the lines.
I am grateful for understanding
In this life I’m trying to design…
that every now and then it is perfectly acceptable
to color outside the lines.
When we will see a weeping willow;
Softly shedding tears on our pillow;
Now and then;
Again and again;
Sorrow in sails did billow and billow.
Jim Horn
He was a chicken thief now and then.
Until he met a beautiful twin.
Pretended he’d changed.
Marriage was arranged.
Taught his children how to swindle men.
Heart Rate, Pulse Rate, Blood Pressure
My heart rate, my
pulse rate, my
blood pressure admit
now and then of
a little gossip about
local trollops.
Those days, pray
before wake up.
These days, cellphone
before wake up
Before, love letter
to court a lady
Now, just text
and have a baby.
My Son, Shawn (1967-1999)
He never calls
Doesn't write a letter
No longer praises songs I pen
His home is on Higher Ground now
He just visits now and then
Beware of being bedeviled
Every day and night
Devil takes various forms
Every now and then
Voyaging thru the sky
In myriad colours
Looking for his next victim
With color names I get the gist;
Pink colors are for girls like, “Mist”.
But what about the men?
Every now and then
Pink could be “Sebaceous Cyst”.
May we be blessed every now and then
on a clear and starry night…
to stand in silence…outside…
and think about how amazing is this universe
in which we all reside
We walk together,
Our shoulders touch every now and then,
The rain pouring down your umbrella.
The cold bites. We hardly talk.
But we find pleasure
In smelling the rain.
