We Are Redundant
we finish each other's sentences
saying "we are redundant" six times a day
it's forty-nine years later and we remain
maniacally crazy about each other...

Fear Me
When her scorched and broken body
comes tumbling down the rocks,
I will grin maniacally and say,
"Finally."
'Cause I know she lies,
and I know she spies,
and I will be happy when she
brutally dies....

Blank Page
A blank page has no shot with me
Not even a second to stare me down
I whip her into a frenzied tale
laughing maniacally at her anguish
or I create something so dark she is horrified
The one thing I do not do is make the paper blush....

Secret Agent Unhinged Translations
She was a daring escape artist,
secret agent in her own maniacally
complicit central intelligence gravitas,
gritting darkly ravaged plug-in gray matter
weapon of choice - unsystematic wordy tumult
seducing unhinged recondite translations...

Embarrassing Moment
Nothing was more embarrassing,
than when I got caught jamming my air guitar maniacally dancing,
to the melodic orchestrations of ABBA singing.
Yeah, I like ABBA, no doubt about it.
You got a problem with that? Wanna step outside and do something about it?...

half witted and hard boiled
Why are the half-witted usually also hard-boiled?
Not only are they wrong, they will not listen to other’s ideas
They are maniacally determined to be wrong
Determined to do what they want, without facts or proof
Stubborn fools, not necessarily old, but certainly half-witted...

Squirrley Squiggly
Squirrely squiggly
Toughly Triggly
Whirly Wiggily
Girly Giggily
Laughingly happy
Graphing her Gaffy
Draffingly Draffy
Slappily slappy
Nonsensical verse
Comically inverse
Maniacally reverse
Fanatically converse
Piggily pig
Jiggily jig
Miggily mig
Squiggily squig...

Best Teacher Ever
Coming in a windstorm,
Twirling her crazy,
Laughing maniacally
Loving us gladly.
We adore our fifth grade teacher.
She finds us all mad.
In a great and glorious way.
We are lively, and happy.
Best school year ever.
Feeling her crazy
Loving our lessons,
Enthusiasm sells!...

Clown Triangle Brain
clown triangle brain
gathers thoughts that scatter
laughing maniacally
I am irritated now
recognize their horror at being discovered
and yet I am in charge right?
no way the voice says
We are in charge; you are our puppet
clown triangle brain snickers
making me extra mad now...

Minchkins and Munchkins
Minchkins and Munchkins eyes twitter and twitch
Glorifying carnivoric conquests fair
Dining on country found delicacies at which
Some cats stick city slick noses in the air
Nothing juicier than catching meat on the go
My quick tomcats Minchkins and Munchkins know
They nibble on tiny mole and vole head,
Laughing maniacally where creatures dare tread....

Best Valentines Day Ever
He brought me chocolate candy.
I am allergic to chocolate.
He brought me roses.
I despise cut flowers.
Because they die
After they are cut
He told me I knew you’d love this.
Whipping out a T-shirt I would never wear.
He must have me mixed up with my grandmother.
He professed his love for me.
I began laughing maniacally
Knowing he thought he was talking to my identical twin.
I sent him away.
Irritated and unfulfilled.
It was my best Valentine’s Day....

Ballad
Old Vineyard
Singing maniacally,
To cover all sadness.
Crying silently,
Wanting to drowned out the madness.
Hiding quietly,
Trying to mask the pain.
Pacing incessantly,
Careful to not go insane.
A playful attitude,
To shield off any unwanted grief.
The toughest dude,
If you don't think so, I'll bust your f****** teeth.
Babes so young,
Living way before their time.
Every screaming lung,
Hopeless cries, while walls we climb.
M. Lyn Church

Life Makes Fun of Me
Life is parading around the living room laughing.
Irritating me for there is nothing funny here.
Trixie jumps on her back and tries to take her down.
But alas, she keeps parading.
Trixie is kicking her and punching her now.
Life tosses her curls and laughs maniacally.
We poets and muses do not affect her at all.
She makes another quick pass, then pulls the woven rug out.
I land on my bottom, and Trixie lands on my head.
“I know better than to hurt Trixie,” Life whispers....

Lily Bug the Mighty Pug
(Lily, spring of 2025)
Lily Bug the Mighty Pug
Lily bug the mighty pug,
All 13 months and 15 pounds of,
Just goes to show the unbridled
Power of nature
Supremely confident
Maniacally enthusiastic
Without a clue of her limits
And adorably cute.
But perhaps most importantly is a hint
Of the joy and love
That resides in the heart
Of Life, all life,
Large and small, simple and complex
Resides as part of our nature
Ready, and always eager,
To shine.
(6/16/25)...
