Gravity Sucks

Don't want to cast aspersions but have you heard these words Things are going to turn out to be different, so say the birds A feeling of some tugging Maybe gravity that's sucking Perhaps aliens who were naked as in the shadows they lurked

Untitled #266 / Hang a Lantern On Your Problem

“Hang a lantern on your problem”
Ah! What once lurked beneath in shadowy depths
now climbs to the surface, blinding sight and all senses!
Rather than live with this demon
I will knock down this lantern,
and let the flames consume my misery
until ashes return

Six Deadly Sins

He kept at it,
and woke up a band of hoodlums

Observing the ways of the moon,
calling Jane like a fool,
looking late for school,
missing cake for food,
sleeping eight by noon,
weeping for a new wave in the loo

Ademola kept at it,
and a moll lurked in fairness

Broken Nights

Night - silence
morning- shattered
consuming time- relentless- battered
shadows lurked as if to mock
and in the silence a ticking clock
endless
birds sing in a new beginning
dawn chorus- insomnia winning
let this day be filled with joy
as back to bed- to sleep
my ploy.

Last Tango

cruel fate lurked by

as the band played for us two

                   a final tango

Cosmic Detail

Not one pursuit but led to disappointment
The system was designed to fail

Corrupted judge has tendered resignation
The horror lurked behind the veil

Another's cruelty fueled his vindication
The true believer's cause for pain

Described to him in full blown cosmic detail
The dronings of a world insane

Float On

A big ‘floater’ lurked in the loo He tried to remove this huge pooh Poked it with a stick It made him feel sick So he fished it out with his shoe! 11th April 2015
Inspired by the title of the song 'Float On' by the Floaters ... maybe I should stop listening to the radio when I am writing lol

Salvation

I was waiting for someone
Anyone really
To save me
Save me from what I didn’t know
But monsters lurked in the dark
Waiting for me to crumble
And when I did
They ate me whole
But in the reflection of my blood
I saw a face
My own
And at that moment I realized
I was my own savior
All along
All I had to do
Was turn the light on

BYE ERN

BYE ERN

There once was a man from Bavaria
Whose actions could not be scarier
In the woods where he lurked
And at night where he worked
It was designated as a no-go area

But at heart he was a secretive guy
Of ill repute, but couldn’t see why
All those songs that were sung
About him being well hung
From a tree in the woods so high

A Lost

I feel it slowly slipping away,
Piece by piece,
Day by day,
With every angry word spoken,
I bend a little more,
Eventually,
They will leave me completley broken.
I know you see the difference,
I can tell it on your face,
I tried not to hide so well,
Lock myself in my own hell,
And for awhile it worked,
But in the dark,
Our demons still lurked.

Holston

There's a lake where I used to live
I used to swim there with my friends.
Dark, murky water blurred my vision,
Monsters lurked beneath.
I wasn't scared.
It was home.
I'd swim out until I couldn't stand,
Free and floating
Unafraid and careless.
My friends grew old and left,
I stayed.
One day I'll venture back out
And join the family that's still there.

Elusive Dreams

Elusive Dreams By: Miracle Man 1/29/2019 My Memories, Are often the rebirth of dreams. Of times or places, long since elapsed, Of faces, suddenly to vague to retrieve. Dreams during the April of my life, Now are convoked in December. Elusive dreams that haven't disappeared, But have lurked in the shadows, Awaiting today's awakening.

Empty Mansion

From the hill we could see it. Like the owners through the years, it had changed. The trees had grown taller the paint had been redone, twice. Still you could feel it. It lurked in the eyes blinking from the windows. Majestic. The home had survived the highs and lows of every soul that had walked through its doors.

Old empty mansion
rain pelting the fine rooftop,
impenetrable.

Memory of Youth

Chuckling coy damsels lurked behind iron curtains,
And eyed the prodding boys in the plodding streets,
Hunting hearts, beat when love is in the air,
And consummated by the raging fire of passion,
Colliding and swelling mounds of groundbreaking motion,
Shielding and shedding the core coiling emerging
   volcanoes,
A testimony to gyrating and spinning sinful
   world.

Childhood Fright

As a little boy
At night
I feared and trembled
to turn out the bedroom light
lest the bogeyman
or some other monster
(who lurked in every dark corner)
presented a terrible sight
and attempted
to reach out
a gnarly, hairy and scaly hand
in an attempt to grab hold
one skinny leg
to pull me
with all his dreadful might
way down
out of the light
into the pitch black
and take a bite!

Foggy Bottom

Foggy Bottom . . .

and top, full surround,
without sound.
Socked In, in pilot lingo,
moving blind, no visible exit;
one choice; move forward.

Headlights barely sliced through
the thick, grey mantle.

Cocooned in quiet death;
chills rippled backbones,
bumps nippled bare arms.

Ellery Queen's
             sinister villain
                            lurked,
angled beyond our view.

There It Sat

It was a gorgeous house
Dated in its style
A stone-walled bungalow
Quiet sitting up on a hill

I’d never seen a sign of life
And the stories lurked about
Owned by an old photographer
Whose son had hung himself

A house that seemed abandoned
Where everyone had left their soul
In some form passed away and died
Leaving just the ghosts to roam

Grim Reaper Waits

He lurked in the corner of the shadows below
Waiting patiently for his victim, a guy who moved quite slow
Jim had a feeling, so he dragged his feet a bit
When the Grim Reaper grabbed him, he threw a tiny fit

You know it’s your time, the Grim Reaper said to him.
His voice was serious, which sobered the guy named Jim.
He pleaded, could have another week or two?
The Grim Reaper said “no, I have come to claim you.”

Panther

That gentle roar,the mesmerising scent
Drew the bear's attention as it boldly went
Lumbering towards the darkened cave
Which few had ever dared to brave
For there there lurked a rainbow beast
Whose appetite had enjoyed many a feast
Painted from the palette of shimmering Iris
And proudly ridden by the mighty Dionysus
That entered not a whit into the grizzly's mind
Little realising it would be his last and fatal find

In the Bushes

In the bushes lurked a man
Keeping handy
Bits of candy
Luring children in the bushes
Where he hit them,
Scratched them, bit them.

If a man hides in the bushes
Don't go near him
If you hear him
In the bushes with a club
He will beat you,
Cook you, eat you.

This is another unpublished early poem, circa 1969, from the forever-after ongoing series "Lucifera's Questionable Daycare Poems and Stories."

Heaven Is Calm

To-night,
Heaven is calm.

For a long time,
The fire of love
Awakened us.

Never seeing the cloud,
that we should despair
in our ecstasy.

Now as our world
crumbles around us,
Do we see truth.

The evil that lurked
in the shadows,
silently destorying us.

Trapped between heaven and hell,
our love was weakened,
and the fire changed.

Burning in us,
the rage we thought
could never be.

But to-night,
Heaven is Calm.

Around the Sun (For Kids)

Around The Sun (FOR KIDS)
I keep peering on the sun’s gleamingness,
It is pleasant to see that;
I go to some other shops,
Again, I take a glance of firmament sun,
While I m go to shop,
It follows me on my back
Where’er ,I go it follows me,
Suddenly, a glance ,flee movement
I lurked under the tree
To far apart from the sun,
Nope, as yet It didn’t leave me,
Thou, I around the sun
Yes, both of us around ourself.

No Chime of the Heart

Veins of blood, pale and thin
Running amok, at keeper’s inn
Tortuously dwelled in diversity
Its vitality runs cold, in all proximity

Air tunnels pounding at the doors
Hatches jammed, life is over, no encores
House of chambers stalled in overdrive
Community cells don’t come out alive

fate lurked within those walls
Endangered life to which it stalled
Essentials of life were battered by time
The pendulum stopped after its chime

A Square Meal

I had a meal that wasn’t square
Though all the things I’d need were there:
Some crusty bread, some cheese and fruit
And lots of salad spreads, to boot.

A plate of veggies, nicely sliced
And lox and cream cheese, which enticed.
A pot of coffee, freshly perked
And pastries (where the cal’ries lurked).

I lunched with utter pure delight;
The hostess got it all just right.
I wonder how would one prepare
A better meal to make it square.

It Happened In My Texas

It Happened in My Texas

They came to His courts with praise and prayer,
And the devil lurked behind them;
The nut with the gun that the devil used
Is gone, but current comfort to them is spare;
Though we know God’s love is embracing them.
(There were angels singing as souls were carried
To their heavenly king); but
There is no way for we humans to understand,
Until we meet them face to face.
For now the gift of hope prevails that

They are in a better place.
