IT’S YOU -DODO

IT’S YOU -DODO

For many years thought extinct
A lost friend, rediscovered
An African encounter
Ah, Dodo – it’s you

Saturday

Saturday
A soft gray backdrop
For the barren trees
Stick fingers search
For a lost friend
Squirrels hide
In plain sight
As grounded hawks
Await a wind

Atticas

In the quiet hours when shadows fall,
I search for a light but find none at all.
Loneliness whispers like a long-lost friend,
And sadness lingers, with no end to mend.

Winds of Christmas

Winds of Christmas

             winds of Christmas blow,
             family gatherings near,
             tears for a lost friend.

My Lost Friend

it was her depression
that drove her to despair
which caused her death that dreary night
the scent of rose lingering from her grave now
as she is left alone once more
in the dark cold ground
a woman caught between love and hate

Wooden Boxes

There is a box,
out there,
for me,
from unknown land,
and unknown tree.

'Til quietus reached,
we
will
not
fasten.

But I know,
one day,
you
will
hold
me,
with all the intimacy of a long lost friend.

For My Lost Friend, Rachel

Radiance glows from no boundry
A butterfly flutters through the hair
Children gathered to listen
Heaven came upon the death
Enough roses for a garden
Little Racahel close your eyes and dream

...i'll miss you Rachael...

Lost Friend

A friend left this
place
not to long ago…
he was…
a kind, gentle, endearing
man
with a heart made of
gold
now some may see it
un-masculine
but I am not ashamed to
say
that I have had great thoughts
for this man
and loved him in
every way

Lost Friend

Lives going in different directions
Once close, now only closure
Silence instead of laughter
Trust broken forever

Forsaken, forgotten
Reconciliation rejected
Ill will, resentment
Empathy now apathy
Nothing left to say
Death of friendship

Pieces

We live upon
Our naked souls
Cradle thoughts
Beneath the light
We hear the pain
On sacred roles
Chaos brims over
Unwept night
We stand above
The dying never
Seeking that which
Has no end
We kill the truth
Undying clever
Pieces of a
Long lost friend.

Lost Friend

I relied on him then
To have my back until the end
For you need a mate
Who will be there for whatever date

But in the end it didn’t happen
He decided our friendship would end
And so when I think of him now
The question is why and how.

A Fictitious Friend

No pretending, fences need mending. A will unbending, always condescending. Voices sending, words seem unending. Friendship rending, intent offending. Friendship depending, to matters attending. Lost friend impending will be heartrending.

Broken

I have fallen into an unearthly pit of darkness
The walls have all but closed in
A glimpse of light has creeped in through a tiny crevice
Hopes and dreams are fading into the darkness
Pessimism is setting in as the light retreats
Love, my long lost friend
Goodbye and bon voyage

Heavens Bliss

I often dreamed of the lofty place
Where my wandering soul would rest in grace
Where peace like a long lost friend
Would lie upon my wasted breast
And the smile of an innocent child
Carved deep into my wearied face
Thus earth be gone and heavens bliss await
All the pilgrims at the gate

Message From a Lost Friend

Throat was dry
Even no tears to cry.
In mids of the desert-
Failure was every try-
It was then-
A sudden change-
When I felt drops of rain-
Came and washed away my bane.
Breeze then whispered a doh-
Pointing to colors of rainbow-
Your message came like that “Bea”
Though this time not from Pretoria.

Rubber Duckies

The heat is sweltering,
causing beads of sweat,
Somehow, the little children
don't fret,
Their rubber duckies go everywhere
with them, swimming in their perspiration
like a long lost friend,
There is no need to wait for bathtime for
duckies to make their debut,
They've become eco-friendly,
recycling human dew.

Rainy Days

Rainy days are here again welcoming me like a long lost friend!Storm cloulds lingering way
up high as I watch sky start too cry!Puddles on the ground all around stomping in them
makes a splashing sound!Ihold my umbrella way up high as the water falls from the sky!
Rainy days are here again greeting like a long lost friend!

Music To My Ears

This soulful song soothes my soul
It is music to my ears
Like a long lost friend
Coming back to dry my tears

Wrapped in the melody's loving arms
Forgetting my doubts and fears
Lifting my fallen spirit
Taking me back to golden years

Absent Friends

Police Remembrance Day …..

Whose shout is it today
And knowing who I looked away
For a tear trickled down
For a lost friend of some renown

Our ever shrinking group of friends
Smiled and remembered a time when
They made us smile at their antics then
So here’s to Absent Friends with love we send.

Playmate

(A Children's Poem)

Visions form as the cold wind blows
I watch the flakes, see a carrot nose
Red scarf around a cold, cold neck
tall black hat, arms of forked sticks

Stay away, sunshine, my friend will die
his smile will vanish, his buttons will fly
I will be sad as I contemplate
my long-lost friend by the garden gate

My Friend

there is a sweet whisper
blowing through mesquite
singing your name
my long lost friend
and I miss those days

when the shadows stretch long
before the darkness falls
I think of you my long lost friend
wondering where you went

just before I sleep
before I start to dream
I say a prayer for us my friend
praying you return to me

My Lost Friend

I often wonder where you are
For you are distant in the stars.
But I will search all through the night
I know your there just out of sight.
One star will twinkle of them all
To become the brightest as it falls.
I'll watch it guild in all it's bliss
And at that moment make my wish.
As it fades in all it's hue
My faithful friend I'll know it's you.

Summer Haiku

daffodils wilt in summer heat -- a lost friend kite tails fly -- children chase the wind and catch the sun a forgotten swing sways beneath an empty nest -- and ripe, red apples By Rhonda Johnson-Saunders, April 10, 2012 for ????.....!!!!!.....Ku Ku Crazy......!!!!!.....???? My Long Lost Friend

He was my best friend
His name was Snoopy
He was a beagle
My favorite pet.

I got him on Christmas day
He was just a little pup
I loved him so much
Then God took him away.

He was out hunting
He never came back
He was gone
Just like that.

I wonder every day
Where is he
Alive or…
Dead?

I still miss him so
I cry at night
Missing him
Missing him.
