And lo and behold

Lo and behold, a marigold
Like nectar to sip, a bright tulip
No chill, just a thrill, a daffodil
Hold that perfect pose, M'ss Rose

When life has me down
When the world wears a frown
My garden sports a triple crown
  Fragrance, color, God's grace

Valentine Thing
Lo and behold! Who would have ever known?
Two decades, plus --we’ve watched unfold.

Each Step we share, whether here or there;
Amazingly, our love has grown.

I must admit, if truth be told; this thing we have
is like diamonds and gold.

Won’t you be my sweet Valentine? Hurry, come see me,
Before I grow old....

Scratched Off a Winner
I thought I would take a chance the other night. The move I made turned out to be right. I scratched the silver coating off the ticket I bought. Lo and behold, see the winning combination I caught! I feel like going on a shopping spree. Hello lottery agent, show me the money! Inspired by another member's poem

Premium Member Appointment
He called toll-free for an appointment with Pain
Twenty years in advance next December
They squeezed him in 'tween two elderly gents
"Bring your wrinkles and aches, please remember."

The girl said "Hmmmm" shaped in a frown
"I'm afraid there's one last bill to pay."
He glanced in the mirror and lo and behold
There was his coffin so gray....

Red Fortitude
Lo' and behold,
There it sits
Red Fortitude,
Under an ocean of blue,

Amidst pale yellow plaster,
Towering above,
And a foliage of green
That crowds for a view.

The sun whispers phrases
Enchantments that only shadows construe
And yet unphased by its neighbours
Lost in thoughts of its own
There it sits
Red Fortitude
Under an ocean of blue....

There was a lady named Susan
Always worryin’, frettin’ and stewin’
Talkin’ woe is me’ to old man Lance
Who coaxed and cajoled her to dance

Lo and behold! They could cut a rug
Doin' the cha-cha and jitterbug
Soon the talk of the town
They danced every dance around

Smilin’ Sue found it all so confusin’
That grinnin’ Lance thought it all so amusin'...

Autumn
The air around me is still,
and quiet. Leaves spiral
vertically to the ground,
gradually carpeting the
main road. As I step on
the road, I feel as though
my feet are disappearing
into the leaves; I can't
see my feet, but I can feel
them. As I look above,
Lo and Behold!
I see trees' canopies faintly
glowing in ember
in the fading sun.....

Premium Member Rain Nap
This is my peaceful time of day
To grab a pen and write
Late in the day as clouds come my way
On a rainy day short of light

Raindrops tapping my window light
With question who are you
Good question and answer I might
A writer with nothing to do

Secret of life lo and behold
Flash the ultimate prize
But the cloudy day and raindrops soft
Has nod my head closed my eyes...

Loveliness
Lo and behold the beauty within
on gossamer wings I fly,
veiled moonlight and what it brings
eyes shining a pure green.
lonely the night when you are young and in pain
In visualising the joy of loving again
now I must flutter like a dazzled moth
evermore seeking that one person , my
soulmate somewhere waits for me, please
shine your light, so that I can see.

There Once Was
There once was a can
That got kicked by a man
That once was batman
Candy he gathered
In a round pumpkin can
Trickery got him a treat
Robin was his brother
Switching customs with
One another a trick
For more treats
Dressed as one another
No one knew who was who
Gathering our candy fortune
With caution not to be seen
Lo and behold or mother knew
With a laughter so loud
While eating our candy treats...

Love
It wraps you in its fold
so hot, and then so cold
locks you up in its stronghold
and then, begins to mold
your life and character round its hold
believe it or not, it's very bold
shines in your eyes like the finest gold
it's like a story waiting to be told
by pages and heralds as in the days of old
so precious, that it can't be sold
and all of a sudden, lo and behold,
you're caught up under its staggering load!...

Battle For the High Seas
Lo and Behold

A Subterranean grip

Alas a woman's mass appears in this Word Trip

She cries for Ahab to head ashore "Give the creature the slip"!

Avast a wide mast unfurls across the ship

The Captain's cries for the harpoon are drowned out by the cracked whip

The wondrous size of the White Whale appears from the drip

The sheer weight of the beast causing the schooner to flip

The showdown is on

between Captain Ahab and Moby Dick...

Heartbreak Peddler
I peddled a song round the streets
And found that not many were keen

The solemn church bell or the shout of cannon
Or at least the selfseeking drone
Of selling and buying and lying down prone
Was more to their taste

In haste I switched wares
And peddled long shares
Making over the song
To the young fool who happened along

I hear he has gone to the desert and sings
The same song and lo and behold
It ‘s breaking the heart in the young and the old...

Counterclockwise
Frozen in time, right before my eyes
suddenly my life reversed counterclockwise
moving right along with no hesitation
I begin to move backwards I lost concentration

Reminiscing about my past history
entertaining doubt,confusion and misery
driven to despair from the effect of my condition
blinded my thoughts I lost my position

"Lo and Behold"I was set free
ambition came to rescue me
moving forward with my eyes set
on the prize, never to revisit counterclockwise....

Fingerprints of the Gods
Outside the Pyramid I saw a hologram;
very certain it wasn't a man-made program.

The hologram displayed ghostly images
similar to the ones in Thoth's pages.

Lo and behold!
hieroglyphs of gold!

They were brilliant,
even in the night!

The hologram seemed to have a soul,
igniting the hieroglyphs on pillars so tall.

Messages from beyond,
seemed to scream on our land.

The conspirators of time seemed to awaken
us from the sleep we were forsaken....
