haunting
harp melodies
leaving maestro’s fingers
poignantly echo ancient Celts
lingers.
The scent still lingers
In the air
Such wonderful taste.

autumn’s breath lingers,
witness perfume brushed woodlands
rainbow falls to earth

I think of you.
Every scene since the day we met
Flashes
Through my mind
Lingers
Here and there
On treasured moments
Yesterday lingers,
still a not-yet-memory,
today waits to start.
I’m sleepless at 3 a.m.,
adrift in the cracks of time.
CHARLIE CHAPLIN
Charlie Chaplin, long gone
But his memory lingers on.
When he went to heaven,

roses wilt too soon~
your laughter lingers longer
than any bouquet
Soft sunlight warms
an empty morning.
Memory hums below
like distant footsteps.
A hush gathers —
then lingers in my chest.
freezing rain lingers
wind chimes hang from curled up leaves
icicles tinkle

A Moment in Nature Poetry Contest
A long languid lake
lingers in my dream
mirroring the madness
of illusion;
rarely realizing reality;
I am awake after all.
"The corrosion on my soul lingers, like the gateway I enter to your lonely tomb.

Come near, my dear, don't fear;
Menace no longer lingers here,
No peril will for you, appear
My dear,
In this faint shadow
at peace but alone
a feeling wholeness lingers
pondering the space
where once there was tea for two
now there is but one cold cup
Firework splits the night
angel wings crumble to ash
silence takes its shape
your ghost lingers in my arms
a melting oblivion
It hasn't sprung yet,
the season of renewal.
A chill lingers still.
~~~~~ For Carol Brown's "Waiting For Spring" contest
WINTER SUNRISE
the gray ache lingers
daylight vanishes quickly
brilliance appears!
Quiet sober love
rises with the morning Sun;
Unspoken desire
lingers from the night before;
Small talk has found the silence.
The land lies silent
Beneath the icy embrace
Trees stand still, statues
Whisper of life now dormant
Yet hope lingers in the cold
Her heart lingers far
Beset by constant turmoil
Keeping its distance
From other heartbeats and souls
It withers away, it dies.
Darkness comes and darkness goes.
Or is it here to stay?
A new dawn comes accompanying the day.
Yet still the darkness lingers on.
be brave
when darkness comes
and braver still
when not for you
it lingers in
the broken heart
and feeds upon
unquenched desire
Form:
Love of God always lingers;
Heard in voices of singers;
Seen in face;
Race and place;
And in fingers of bell ringers.
Jim Horn
the spring air is damp
the sun false in its brightness
spring is a mirage
as winter's coldness lingers
I look at the sun and dream
A tear in my eye
the taste of brandy lingers
warming glow in my belly
thoughts of you drift through my mind
content smile emerges
there always is a memory
of love that has not passed
which lingers beneath the darkness
of the shadows passion cast
