In Her Cups

at peace but alone
a feeling wholeness lingers
pondering the space
where once there was tea for two
now there is but one cold cup

great tanka Debbie, very thought provoking, A giant marrow is the answer to your question, they get very defenceful, couples have ended up divorced over it...David

Goodness, Debbie! It is hard to imagine a more well-struck Tanka than this one, and your "turn" at the third line is the perfect surprise...after setting the mood for ease you've splashed it with bittersweet hues. "pondering the space" is sheer brilliance. You've shared the birth and death of a relationship in a teacup...remarkable! And, you've done it in perfect form and moment. Such a pleasure to read a master's work, Debbie. Thank you ever-so warmly! Rascal
