Cut, Cut, Cut

From upon a ladder’s high ledges
It’s time to trim up the edges
Each critical slice
Makes topiary nice
And forms the most pleasing hedges

The Rim

Living along the ledges,
  life is about the edges

The meaning sharpens and cuts
  —the higher you go

Living Waters

Reflections of life gently flows
Time removes rough edges
A sigh;
There is continuance from throes
Water goes from ledges
To fly.

Gargoyle

Gothic creatures of old
  gaze down from their ledges
    glaring at unseen threats.
       Grotesque legends of stone
    garner my attention
  garish symbols ward off
ghoulish evil demons.

To See Hawthorn On the Summer Hedges

to see hawthorn on the Summer hedges
bluebirds on the ledges of the low lying sill
 near the old cotton mill
bird song fills the air, chirping cheeping, caterpillars creeping.,
through the leaves of green
glistening in the summer sun.

Destiny Astride

I rode a painful trail,
because not doing so curtailed

Biting hard on Areion’s bit,
all else in life assailed

With blinders on I forged ahead,
whose route my will complied

Its ledges steep, all fear below
—my destiny astride

Grand Canyon

Grandeur
And sovereignty
Poetic splendor wide
Lofty red canyon craters locked
Deep inside the ledges realm your eyes drop
Through colored portals steep to hide
The grace of this treasure
Timeless in its
Grandeur

Switchblade

To everything..
Turn, turn, turn
Standing upon this ledges edge
Uncovered as peering amid
The city lights below
Biopsies water colours..
Moments splashed about
This vestige of neons
Dissecting organisms hues called life ?
Time, seeking purlieu sorties
Reasons incised..
Lifted from the palette
Of brushed; their rhyme.

Mountain

M orning sun rises in multicolor splendor
O ver snow covered high crimson peaks
U nder speckled sky thin clouds saunter
N ever tired of flowing the stream speaks
T o the rock ledges in continuous murmur
A t the valley base lies the mysterious mist
I nside it hides the trees and their treasure
N ature awaits you to see what you missed.

In an eclipse of time

As absorbed in the ember
A scape
Bill in towers crashing
Ledges shelter
Hatred in angst and ignorance
The feign of time
A contemplation to end
Resume history
Well and fear my quill?
Was suffering the necessity?
Time was not
Only in the morrows mourns
Heft of pen
Empty gadgets
Science finished
The subject closed

Falling Snow

See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.

On the window ledges,
On the branches bare;
Now how fast they gather,
Filling all the air.

Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green;
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen.

Now the bare black bushes
All look soft and white,
Every twig is laden,
What a pretty sight!

Old Sentries Standing Guard

Old sentries standing guard for centuries Exposed rocky ledges staring outward Like true natives with rugged determination, Nature's hieroglyphics in emerald green Reflect gold splintered sparkling gems High above savage river's ragged edges, Far below the sounds of rapids whooshing Unaware the circling echo of eagle overhead.

Suicide Is Real

10.30.19

Suicide is real

Anxiety
Building up
Crushing
Desires of
Ever existing
Feeling like a
Gnat
Hoping they’d see me.
Invisible
Junkie
Knives call me,
Ledges scream
My
Name
Oh, come swallow these
Pills. Having no
Qualms about living.
Ropes around my neck
Slipping
Through the cracks
Useless
Varmint
With flaws on
Xerox
You’ve counted me as
Zero

Last Moment To Burn

Blistering thunder
Cracking asunder
Craters form
High ground being torn
Its ledges are sharp
Concealed in the dark
The rain blows in gales
 —ancient prophecy hails

Blistering thunder
Fate pulls you under
Vows you made
Point straight to your grave
Death’s legions await
You fall through its gate
Your last moment burned
 —no more chances to learn

Decomposure

The gray granite outcroppings loom
masticated mountains blasted yet brazen.
Their jagged ledges and softer heights
topped with rust brown and burnt orange maples.
Fog distances them
 softens them
as they seem to overlap
Recede ..into semi transparent wash
like the edges of a tissue paper collage.
Each layer seeming to de compose
into the next each symmetrically
more exquisite than the next…

Here In Babylon

Sitting here sipping upon a monster's energy drink
Trying to clear my mind that perhaps the fog shall lift
Her palette may appear this verse an image, something ?
Short nights long days still walking through yesteryears haze..
Upon a train unto nowhere at least within this life I would wish
Here, amid a world without inspiration ? Winding staircases rising
Towards empty ledges her paradox; vertigo's revolving doors bizarre.

Redeeming Faith In God

Redeeming Faith in God

Redeeming Faith – quiet companion of Hope
 Steps out on ledges where we fear to go;
Embraces doubt on stumbling feet –
Strong arms of the Covenant - now complete.

A light through the valley where shadows gather;
 Arms wide open lead to Son, Spirit, Father;
Sends up shooting stars with blazing light -
Strength in weakness – a nova so bright.

Sky Feelings Approach the Meadow

Sky feelings
gently traveling
past rainbow ledges
away from tall grasses
that smile at the ruffling.

Sky feelings floating
past majestic oak trees, the
keepers of the aged secrets,
champions of the forest,

Sky feelings, approaching the
fragile, dainty flowers
who rapidly conjure up their own
unique feelings

Sky feelings, looking for a naïve or mushroom,
who can retain the peace they
were asked to bring to
the meadow.

Spring

At the mountains in its span
in transition snow and landscape.
Night is dying with a lantern
at the rising reddish sun.

Shaky ledges, toppled boulders,
reminiscent of the arcades –
chasm and charming below cascades
free as life, beyond borders.

Edge of granite cliff is stern,
shy is at it growing fern
and the vivid new grass sprouted.

With a new life nature bursts,
myriad forms quench the thirst.
Song of nature is life bounded.

The River Rock

As water rushes the river rock,
smoothing out the rough, sharp edges,
she dangles sun soaked legs from the dock,
while admiring the mountain ledges.

Smoothing out the rough, sharp edges,
borrowing innocence from bygone times,
while admiring the mountain ledges,
she toe taps her harmonic rhymes.

Borrowing innocence from bygone times,
she dangles sun soaked legs from the dock.
She toe taps her harmonic rhymes,
as water rushes the river rock.

Dare Tread

Dare tread Narrow Treacherous way Up hill, easy to miss Through thorn bushes and weeds, a trail to risk. Few dare Hardly a trace Upon precarious maze Through a wilderness, virgin land A place. Unsafe Upon ledges Of rock hard surfaces Steep climb, uneven, dangerous Terrain. Leading To high country where trees are evergreen And lakes mirror slopes, tapestry Serene. My Winter

January Hikes

January brings blue skies and sun
As the icy air turns waterfalls
Now to glassy stalactites that hang
Under rocky ledges. Crystal walls
Are around us as we crawl behind
Ripples of translucent shining ice.
Yearly we are seeking out this cave,
Hiking through a frozen paradise.
It’s the perfect spot to stop for tea
Kept hot in the flask. We sit a while,
Eat a bite, and then continue on
Snowy forest trails another mile.

Catastrophic Man

Sweet them,
To be a catastrophic man
Say it upon day
For it was harmless,
When they began.

Sweet loves,
Or never seeing
A ruinous time
For a tragic being.

Sweet pair,
They walk toward the edges,
Till the Earth tilts its ledges.
When it falls with love,
Pushed with a lonely shove,
Eyes are quiet
Smiles are violent,
An arrow strikes a dove.

But one, dare say
Never two,
And it remains so:
Just a catastrophic man.
For then
He could have never ran.
