Ledger In Blood

Paying hard
the money short
pockets empty
time aborts
A pound of flesh
bills remain
invoice closing
— sealed with pain

Trump Poor Church Pledger

Trump Poor Church Pledger

Trump heard was a  poor church pledger;
Liked seeing his name leap out on ledger;
A lost cause,
With small paws,
Who forever McCain would never treasure.

Account Cleared

The funding of wisdom,
 bankrolling death

Thoughts to withdraw
from a ledger unspent

Refinancing life,
 true folly indeed

With memory cashed in
—eternity free

Hibernation

Don't watch the six o'clock news, it's a bad news spreader Don't read the daily papers, logging on to Google is no better Hibernation it seems Filled with happiness dreams You'll get away from the uglies and balances your ledger

Balance Sheet Karma

Reconciling
life’s ledger
hoping
it’s in black

Every deed
and every need
accountable
in fact

Debits
fighting credits
to balance
in the end

The jist of life
through joy and strife
where numbers
— will portend

Heaven's Gate

Reaching into the
public conscience
words are tokened free

Blowing fresh holes
through blind indenture
light for all to see

Reaching into the
common ledger …
its double-entry fate

Paying the debt
on tomorrow’s maelstrom
—seeking heaven’s gate

Awe-Inspiring People

Jim Morrison,
How sore the drugs made him,
Kurt Cobain,
Passed at the hands of the vain,
John Lennon,
Met insanity’s venom,
Heath Ledger,
His daughter, he left her,
Brandon Lee,
Met his father’s fate,
I haven’t realized to this date,
Why awe-inspiring people,
Seem to pass when-
We least expect it.

I Did a Bad Thing

I did a bad thing for a good cause.
Put that in my ledger and calculate
the bottom line. Am I in the black
or red? Am I going to heaven or hell?

I did a good thing for a bad cause.
Good intentions build a road to hell.
Jesus Christ, I think You know Lucifer.
Talk, decide and put me where I belong.

Pyre Pedestals

Written: July 30, for contest Sponsored by: Rob Carmack ************** I sketch your pedigree in marrow script, each speech slice out of salt spines— No ledger can fetter the flow of flame, or control the smell of storm-born mind. Wombs are pedestals blazed by pyre, where armor converts into full ember.

Writing Hobby

My time is consumed,
and I feel marooned
in the jungle
of trouble
left in the wake
of my mistake.

All my hobbies
like zombies
are brain dead,
dread and unfed,
in the graveyards
of old time cards.

And yet I still write
late into night
when the shame
and the blame,
the folly of you,
won't accrue

on the deficit edge
of the ledger.

Your Grave Was Slowly Being Dug

(Dedicated to Heath Ledger who died January 22, 2008.)

You starred as the Joker but your death was no joke.
Millions of your fans now have hearts that are broke.
Your grave was slowly being dug.
You died because you took drugs.
Lots of people enjoyed seeing you in 10 things I hate about you.
Your death was traumatic but it shows kids what drugs can do.

The Last Mark

Age is a demon,
  age is a shield

Age is a weapon,
  age makes you yield

Age is redundant,
  age self-defies

Age is the truth,
  age often lies

Age calls within you,
  age calls without

Age comes to get you,
  age never doubts

Age self-enlightens,
  age brings the dark

Age keeps the ledger,
 —age the last mark

Transactional Love

I offered two nickels,
she demanded a dime
It wasn’t enough,
her anger declined

“Can’t you make change,”
she then shouted aloud
And while counting my failures,
her voice reendowed

But the count was undone,
all divisors were shunned
My offerings
attacked

With her vault locking down,
and my ledger unbound
The numbers red
—not black

More Precious Than Gold

The script of experience,
endorsing our wills
banking our choices,
paying our bills

Crediting our memory
for what lies ahead
debentures of faith
the black and the red

A ledger retallied,
both columns in sync
the plus and the minus,
indelible ink

Its summary left open,
all errors erased
with loans to push forward
—new funding in place

Treasure

I searched for the treasure.
It was said to be on the ledger of tha sea.
As I search the sea I didn't realize it would be a free....
and from the tree's so long it would be.
The voyage was so long I decided to return homeSo we docked the ship.
I was discouraged.
I started walking the beach and to my surpise there it was the treasure.my family just standing there waiting for me on the ledge of the sea.

Welcome To the Meek

Ledger the Greek
Was on a endless wining streak

Until that fateful day
His luck rode away

Taking with it his son
Totally eclipsing the sun

Now Ledger the Greek
Lives out the price of a wining streak
Welcome to the ranks of the meek

Here are the house rules
You're allowed to gesture
Just for heavens sake
Don't speak

Turn your pages
I refer you back to the 1st commandment to the meek

If its the truth you seek

Paid When Balance Is Due

PAID WHEN BALANCE IS DUE

SOME say death is by chance
  a twist of fate
merely happenstance
and others take the rein
believing death by their own hand
I say death is the magician
a slight of hand -- misdirection
allowing humans to believe
the end is fate or self-fulfilled
but angels see the cold pact
  forged before time itself

Life is a ledger and always
  paid when balance is due.

Ledger

eventually, you have to give back
for something that you took
when you're totaling up the ledger
numbers in your account book
the columns are too long
no mathematical symmetry
debits outweighing credits
if you took more than you need

I'm not saying
I didn't see you flinch
I'm not saying
you weren't there in a pinch
I'm not saying
you didn't budge an inch
all I'm saying
is it shouldn't end like this

The Wise Never Can Hate

Know, I know that-
"A little learning is a dangerous thing! "

Knowledge
the ledger books of all knowing,
the treasure of the infinite learning

Knowledge is the love,
Love is the immeasurable sense of our knowing

If you are true wise,
Only the wise never can hate others
Because hate is the fixed mental power,
where the infinite wisdom of knowing controls the wise
