Veil

wispy dawn rising
ethereal flute of light
lances the vaporous shroud

spiderweb glistens
an intricately woven
and intangible beauty

Longing looks or
furtive glances,
shuffling steps
or pony prances

Sheathing swords
and crossing lances

Awe In the Romans Eyes

They guarded the tomb with their swords and lances so trim;
no intruders or followers would be allowed nearby
they excuted Pilate's order to have a vigilant eye;
they had seen miracles being performed and feared Him.

Migraine

The automobile breezes
down the liquorice whip,
nonpareil dotted roadway
as the searing sun strobes lances
through the frozen forest;
piercing projections, phospheneal auras,
dance as retinal afterthoughts
within the cornea of man.

Twinkling Stars

Twinkling stars dances
Across my face
Showing its beautiful lances
At a slow pace
Bright red that’s fiery
Burning inside with anxiety
Bright yellow that’s sunny
Its color makes things funny
Cool blue that’s soothing
Its calming and diffusing

Endless World Conflicts

Inspired by an ancient poem. V

Bamboo-cooled breezes pervade my chamber.
Blinking stars appear and disappear.
Roaming moonbeams invade each container.
Laden dewdrops into gobbets cohere.
Self-lit fireflies pepper the dark.
Calling water birds herald the dawn.

Thinking of myriad lances clashing in vain.
Tormented, sleepless, I follow the night.

Reflection

When vicious sadness lances
Spears that disembowl,
My soul on which pain dances
Emits a silent howl.
But the moon to which I cry now
Has no substance, warmth or healing,
A mere reflection of my feeling
Caught in a water bowl
It's beauty empty and unmoving
It's all just for show
Casts back my own deep longing
With a light itself belonging
To a sun you'll never know.

Picking Up the Pieces

Picking up the pieces,
Of her shattered life,
Every joyous memory,
Lances through her, like a knife.
Time's slipping between her fingers,
Like sand through an hourglass,
The turmoil in her mind,
Never ceases, doesn't pass.
Vicious words were spoken,
Jagged scars remain,
No amount of alcohol,
Can ease the searing pain.
No more sorrow,
No tears left to cry,
She's picking up the pieces,
Her resolve will not die.

Copla 110 Resolution: This Bad Guy World

Torrero sans l’aide de Picador
Such artful courage sans pareil :
Gored in the loins

No need to shout who Bad Guys stand for
Mean lances of the Picador slay
Split Toro groins

Speak not of Bad Guys in the same breath
As of fighting bulls and bull-fighters :
Can courage die

Seek not Bad Guys’ ultimate death
Shakespeare says they ever die blighters :
Let cowards lie

I See None of Them

The ship in the bottle grew pirates and more.
I noticed it one day on my way home from the store.
With pointed lances, they made each other walk the plank.
I could barely wait to tell my best friend name of Hank.

He ran right over to see what I saw on a daily basis now.
I see none of them, he stated, watching the brow.
Are you serious? I yelped as one stuck me in the eye.
With a lance that he had hand carved. What a mean guy!

I'm Watching the Jousting at Warwick Castle with a Costa Cappuccino

horses, lances, arrows, fire
they reenact the war of the roses

the outdoor setting
has been erected next to Costa

outside on the ground
napkins, zarfs and stirrers

and half the audience gets their
medieval caffeine hit

that encourages us to yell and whoo-hoo
and pay attention to history

they encourage us to cheer and boo
and after all these years

with a cappuccino in my hand
i bellow 'long live the king'

and it's socially okay

Renewal Is Never Too Late

It is never too late to sustain a difference. Leave the cocoon of unhappiness. Learn the labyrinth of facets of your life's mess. Restore your broken appearance. Rewrite your story with a new face. The breeze carries your broken voice. With mysteries hidden in its lances Your tears have dried after sun incipience.  Its early radiance entices. Please, love, display the valance. It is never too late to enhance.
