Waves In the Jute Field
On this rainy day
Sweet gusty monsoon wind makes
Waves in the jute field....

The Rope
Jute or hemp
braided, twisted, twirled
coiled neatly
waiting for heavy metal
down slowly to the cool deep sea.
Holding -

Thin and leather-like
guiding the stallion
through his paces
over a fence
through the green mist.
Guiding -

Swinging new and fresh
from cross bar or chandelier
looped tightly around white skin
gasping for air
no pills needed.
Releasing -...

Desire
If I were a river, I would go to see the sea;
If the moon, I would float smiling.on the sky

If I were a cloud, I would pour water over Paddy and Jute;
If a lamp, I would spread light in the corner of a dark house.

If I were crops, I would grow being gold;
If fire, I would burn the whole body of an oppressor.

But if I were a missile, I would kill those
Who bring only war on this beautiful earth....

Unmoving Sadness
Unmoving Sadness.

The air is still around the houses today
it could be because it is Saturday
and it needs a rest.
Still air has a musty smell like bedding
not changed for six month,
the apathy of those who live in filth.
I put a lit candle on the window sill
It is in airs nature, to try blowing it out
window pane rattles
The air is crisp and clear
carries the aroma of a jute sack of carob beans....

Late Autumn
Late autumn -
Evening twilight;
The market lane
herds of shoppers,
In front of her small hut,
she lays the
stainless steel vessels
on the mat...

She,
her hut,
her mat,
her vessels,
her hope -
Autumn ceasing
All over...

Late night -
The lane deepening into
deafening silence;
Spoon by spoon,
tiffin box by tiffin box,
plate by plate,
she carefully places them
inside the jute sack
knowing tomorrow will
dawn again....

Only Kiss Can Tell a Flute
A sculpted form looking so cute,
Only when kissed flatters as flute.

To him that knows not to play how,
Far better may sound an owl's hoot.

Metaphors thrown in for a wow,
A meter force-fitted in foot;

Or be it a classical cow
Dressed dandy, shaggy and hirsute,

Or an ascetic wearing jute,
Know this well know it absolute--

If a man's musically mute,
How'd help even a finest lute?

So, should ye reap the finest fruit,
Go invest in its very root.
