Seasons
of emptiness-
barren,desert dry
poetry can lie
     undisturbed
dormant on this page.
 a dead object ‘til
the cadence
         of a voice
 intones
 instils
&
 thus
    becomes alive...

Lords Over Time
Always in rhythm
  quite often in rhyme

The verses hold constant
  Lords over time

A perpetual beginning
  the perpetual end

Their structure intones
  —what the meaning portends

(Villanova Pennsylvania: March, 2018)...

The Voice
Some creatures seem barely adequate designed as they are for the least – some live in blind anonymity, have yet to be discovered even by themselves. ‘Some creatures are barely adequate’ intones a vast alien voice in my head.

Foggy Night
A machine pain,
scripts the name secretly,
intones the verdict.

        *

I don’t need,
to prove it, like the man
who sells the dreams.

        *

Privacy interrupted,
I have come out in open,
to commit the god.

Always in black, Fr. McShane
raises cathedral hands and intones,
‘our brother is finally home.’

Absolved of the fight to contain
a lifetime of tears
in this ceremonial splendor

I just have to wonder.

His Nikes are ‘home’
in the walk-in closet,
aren’t they?

Premium Member Ring Tone
Crying’s not for me, so the singer intones As raindrops, unlike hailstones, fall on his head* The issue, perhaps, is no more than hormones, And he is hanging on by the thinnest of thread His catchy tune makes a memorable ringtone For the cellphone alarm lying next to my bed.

Intrinsic awareness channeled through time Impels the cognitive basic impulses incessant Intones the echoing rhythm of benign bliss Inside the emptiness of resonating perception. Cut Down
Man, the funeral rhetoric intones
Is like a flower of the field
Rising up to be cut down;
Until he is no more than dust and bones,
And in the earth remains concealed
Beneath the prison ground.

Yet still, the drag of ages rumbles on
As the world in truth rotates
Spinning round in time and space;
And I will wait until all time is gone,
Eternal dreaming ruminates
And dreams will dwell upon your face....

A Mary Grotto
She slips quietly
into the semi-circle of the grotto,
reverently lights a votive candle.

A pretty girl, her form drags my eyes
away from the plaster virgin
into a carnal daydream.

She does the whole Catholic thing.
As she intones her rosery
her body invades my senses.

When I look again, she is crying
Some loved one badly needs her prayers?

I check myself to see if I am shrinking –
I think I am....

Premium Member This Is No Song
Isn't boredom is its own birth of freedom
In this antebellum age
I have fashions of a vision
That I could put to page

I need to rage against
This dying of the dream
To etch on ancient canyon walls
And sound my barbaric scream

The seductiveness of my antimuse
Slithers through my brain
As she intones, saturated
Yours is a pedestrian pain

This is no song
My angel of inert imagination tells me
What if she's not wrong
Why else should she whisper it so loudly...

Peace In America
PEACE IN AMERICA

Radio turned down in bed,
Late night 2 a.m. Unhurried
Man’s voice speaks of the weather.
It is the only tiny sound in the universe.

Nothing disturbs his steady calm
At the top of the hour.
He intones the next record -
Slow country fiddles,
Dedicated to Annette in Spokane.
