Soft whispers
of green breeze in leaves,
incense blooms.
Summer heat
is everywhere that I turn.
Sun falls through the trees.
Each breath streams high through incense of winds--
And my spirit feels cleansed from waves
Gushing through heart's tower
Incense meanders
Weaving a bridge of prayers
Here, your whispered vows,
Resonate like dull echoes,
In the canyons of your grief.
scratching his groin
a worshiper offers food:
the flattered deity
in flowery garbage, holy
water, incense and sweat

Florence of Lawrence
Mother of sense
her learning curve incense
her colorful fence for defence
Progressing up the pyramid with boldness
There’s a wick over their heads
Like a candle, incense found
A wavy like expression
Fits on their faces

Capricorn morning
The day before New Year's Eve
The first touch of dawn
Blends with the smell of incense
And the sound of heartfelt prayer
Gunfire wounded
temple time passes by
fleeing dominance, anger,
lovers linger lost
freedom glorified, homage;
saffron incense calls prayer.
Medieval rose
Multifaceted colour
Fired by strong sunlight
Lucent prism, incense smell
Bricks and mortar come alive.
He can't sleep without alcohol.
What else can you expect from an old alcoholic but boasting!?
Staggering left and right and burning incense.
poet’s jasmine vine
incense of inspiration

patchouli incense
opens nostrils --
fragrant dreams
patchouli incense
smolders ethereal --
phantom dreams
patchouli incense
burns as fingers --
massaging dreams
Perfume
Floral, fragrant
Smelling, refreshing, tempting
Incense, pot pouri, aroma, odour
Lingering, infusing, deodorising
Scent, musky
Aftershave
I give You my praise,
rising from this heart's altar
pillars of incense
pure fragrance softly spreading
bringing joy to You, my God.

The contours are mine
The incense is thine
When the petals do float
This heart never gloats
Illumined and divine
This rapturous shine
Is sure
Merciful and benign--

Oy little frailer,
Chaplain of the maple stocks –
Mother wants me home!
I must tell her of my kin,
The incense of rugged mud banks
Clinging tightly to my toes –
How shall I ever leave!
Free Speech is a pied-piper
of artificial colours and flavours –
mixing to grey, watching
The Censor’s Army
in red uniforms
march close,
as arson flames
turn to incense.
Who wants to be God?
Horton smelled a Who, what about Hortense
Did she have that special female 'sixth sense'
It seems she was lacking
But not 'cos of hacking
'Hortense! Stop burning that freaking incense!'
I folded into the dark wooden foyer
that reminded me of the church confessional when I was a boy
the images that got conjured up in there
the smell of burning incense
I lit a match then
I passed out then
Confidence drained out of my photographs
Replaced by lines that weren't there
All the hell's getting inside me
Never imagined I'd be here
Bowed on one knee
Burning hope as incense at the altar
Of vanity
offerings of the soul
incense for the gods
fragrent memories
mixture of joy and tears
gathered tenderly
thru endless years
time of quiet gratitude
moments spent with you
in my reverie
JESUS IT STINKS IN HERE
I’m telling you, man, church really makes no sense
But that ain’t nothing new
Why do you think they burn incense,
And call a row of seats the “pew” ?

the sun at twilight
leaving a trail of beauty
like smoke from incense
scarlet macaw flight
through deep green on verge of dusk
indigo follows
mysterious bug
fireflies twinkle all the June
in touch with the moon
