In the Mirror

Ebullient, effulgent, egalitarian, eclectic, thankful, thoughtful, teachable, tenacious in earnest.

Whatever happened to 60's revolutionaries
I asked my wife in earnest

B. Sanders stayed the course, she said
And it's now his turn to 'Bern us'

Premium Member fiddle faddle Beau

My new retriever Beau is intimidated by his reflection
Having a considerable fit in an unforeseen direction
Barking in earnest at the interloper, ready to do battle.
I merely throw up my hands and say “fiddle faddle!”

Hide And Seek For Real

That thrill, tree-hid, pants more
Near your catching
Within this shade, longer for night
Hear what's matching!

Now in earnest, plays which
Neighbourhood game.
As some escaped convict. No child!
Nor chum to name!

Exactly, You Can Make It

M-aybe you can make it,
A-im at the sweet success;
R-each the glorious goal,
J-ust follow in earnest.
O-n the thirteenth of November,
R-emain hopeful with faith;
I-ntensify your total trust,
E-xactly, you can make it.

Call On God In Earnest

A-s you call on God in earnest,
L-et Him give you the light;
L-et the morn thirtieth of April
A-im to leave the
N-ight.

B-urning beacon Sunday
A-llows you to do the best;
L-et the Lord hear your prayer,
C-all on God in
E-arnest.

Suffice To Say

How could you be
Anything other than everything
To me?

Suffice to say
You are loved, really loved, and you are
Each day.

In earnest, I'm
Beside myself; I hear our hearts strike inside
In time.

Suffice to say
I am yours, truly yours, and I am
Always.

Premium Member Think Twice

The spider spins in earnest
To foreshadow some effect.
A solitary sort of fellow...
Deserving of respect.

If a spider's life has purpose
And in Nature... pulls its weight.
Think twice upon the moment...
You raise a shoe in haste

           The End

Away
From sunshine
And scorching sand
Thirsty; seeking refuge
From heat

Flying
In earnest
To mountain slopes
In green; breathing the cool
Fresh air

Plucked For You

Plucked for you, this little flower
Given in earnest, modest gift
Posies and love bloom by the hour
Plucked for you, this little flower
Sun kissed and rain wet by shower
Hoping yellow, your worries lift
Plucked for you, this little flower
Given in earnest, modest gift

Elmo Hit Woody Woodpecker

Elmo Hit Woody Woodpecker

Woody Woodpecker was going too fast he hit dust
When Elmo ran right after him in earnest eager must
Oh my, oh my, that was a real wild hit and bad image
Too bad for Woody Woodpecker looked like a squashed spinach.

...Dearest Mother

Waters will cease,
the land becomes arid
brooks run dry
sycamores will wither away

Men will stumble
heroes will falter,
Legends may fall
But I will in earnest remain,

With a candle in one hand
and a box of pearls in the other
mummuring your name,
In the menacles of affection

Premium Member Looming Conflict

Love’s touch gentle could not cope
With barbs of an unconscious mind
So took a step back in earnest hope
That God bestows sight to the blind

Rose in one hand, sword in the other
Prayer in heart and song on our lips
Innocence beseeches Divine Mother
May all relinquish ferocity ego grips

A Song of Salvation

She walks in faith through fields of grain
and sings a song of salvation!

When doubts arise from earthly pain,
she walks in faith through fields of grain
in earnest prayer for heaven’s gain—
    through Christ’s great invitation!

She walks in faith through fields of grain
and sings a song of salvation!
Form: Triolet

A Thirsty Soul

Like a thirsty soul,
waiting for a single drop of water,
like a patched land,
waiting for the first shower from above,
so is my soul lifted up in earnest anticipation.
Yes, I see a ray of light behind the cloud.
I see the dim light forming a shape.
I just wish, yes, I wish,
that this becomes a full moon

In Earnest

I do not know
If what I write
Is good poetry.
I write as I feel.
Words give me a freedom
I have not known in life.
I feel I have a purpose:
Art has no meaning to me
If it cannot be employed
To uplift and enlighten
And inspire all humans
To stand in awe and behold
The dynamic, enduring glory
Of God’s Hand in everything.

My First Love

In earnest, I have tarried,
longing to be wrapped,
in the embrace of your warmth,
that your gracious loins may whisper
to my thoughts the meaning of affection,

And when my time is done,
in the Taj Mahal of your being,
I will be embalmed for an eternity,
While my heart you will find,
for you preserved,
in fountains of wine.

Give God Glory and Praise

J-ust give God glory and praise,
E-arly morn fourth of July;
N-ew dawn has broken, night has passed you by.

G-ive God glory and praise,
A-s you wake up from sleep;
J-ust fulfill in earnest
E-very promise you keep.
L-et your heart and mind worship according to God's ways;
A-im to revere His name, give God glory and praise.
Form: Acrostic

Premium Member End Time Dreaming

Such strange dreams lately, about the end times.
Waves of upside-down crosses dropping from the sky.
Turning into maniacal reapers after striking the earth.
They chased the panicky masses over hills, forests, and glades.
One by one, cutting them down with thick, flashing blades.
Only those praying with vigor and in earnest were saved.

Sacred Sacrifice

J-ust give the sacred sacrifice,
U-sing the fruit of labor;
L-et the Lord God be pleased,
I-n obeying Him with vigor.
E-arly fifteenth of July, worship God in earnest;
T-o show respect and regard, as you praise Him with all your best.

N-ever abandon the temple,
A-s you open your eyes;
L-et your heart, soul, and spirit
O-ffer the sacred
S-acrifice.
Form: Acrostic

Premium Member The Day Flew

The bright illumination rose
Like a chandelier's light
Casting yellow through the dark pines
Adorning needles bright

A winter sunrise to remember
The Bluebirds in orange vest
Dancing next to Star Magnolia
Whose white blossoms are best

Nesting begins in earnest soon
The doves know when to coo
House Finches in dating color
Quiet nights for day flew
Form: Rhyme

Premium Member Losing Myself

I wander away from myself.
In slivers and slips
Bits and pieces.
Tiny fragments,
diamond shaped,
in shards.

Slowly at first,
then in earnest,
Faster and faster.

Spinning my wheels
Running toward nothingness
Throwing myself on the edge of train tracks
Waiting for the train that never comes

Wondering at the ridiculousness
of thoughts I do not claim as my own

The Great Luminous Pearl

The knighthood of youth stands tall,
in his phantom suit of armor.
A wooden sword in earnest,
both the warrior and farmer.
He sees life in the bright day,
a mission simple and so plain.
Like a, "double O seven",
a sword umbrella for the rain.
Always there a gentleman,
ready to pedestal the girl.
For the shining of the night,
is the great luminous pearl.
