Cold but warm inside,
home sweet home safe in snuggles;
Hibernation glow;
Heightened imagination
hits full throttle as you sleep.
bears winter forage
spawning fish bantering play
heart beats in slumber

Twilight torpid pond
Shadow falls on lily pad
Silence broken, croak
Autumn plume of winter air
Watery hibernation.
neath the fallen leaves
spring sprouts in hibernation
neath the fallen snow

female bear with cubs
winter's hibernation ends...
boy scouts on spring hike
Inspired by Charles Henderson's contest
but not an entry..
In the mirror She sees
a heap of decayed images in fire,
Smoke cladding her soul
her pulse in hibernation
... a delusion?
... or the quest for liberation!
Time of hibernation
Snow and ice beautiful white
Reflecting beauty waiting to spring
Trees look dead; somehow living
Cold weather; warm in ground
Barraness a mirage
Form:
Hear the weather
upon the roof,
Winter is a'coming:
As landscapes
drowse
Autumn arrives
on the wind:
Wardrobes are
ransacked,
thermostats
turn red-
so earlier to bed
Metamorphosis
Still
Cold pond
Wakes up from
Hibernation
Metamorphosis
When tadpoles hatch
To become

hibernation sleep
sensitive proximity -
winters quietude
Autumn’s nakedness
becomes robed in virgin snow
footprints prove there’s life,
yet the secrets of springtime
in hibernation till birth.

violets sleeping
hibernate under brown leaves
awaken in spring
waiting for April
beneath layers of ice and snow
dandelions, too

Became A Recluse
Some gave up by saying what is the use;
Went into hibernation becoming a recluse;
We much hatred,
For what he did;
Trying to come up with a perfect excuse.

Fearless Excavation!
Dirt flies into the air.
Turtle Devastation,
As he digs a muddy lair.
Mindful Contemplation.
Winter weather is quite near.
Springtime Fascination
Is when turtle reappears.
Grumpy Grizzly yawns
Hollow tree trunk awaits –
Hibernation
Note: I’d like to dedicate this entry for Andrea’s contest to
Daver Austin, who describes himself as a “grumpy” old man.
My mood has been anything but jolly lately
Winter I've had many, must be way past eighty
Back in hibernation, I go
Had way too much snow
Enough for ten lifetimes, do I sound like a crybaby
the first time
in her life she
screamed yet
not a word but
a primal sound
as if waking from
hibernation
a coming into
from out of
the cave
being
not knowing
gestation

When you’ll come from hibernation out of the cold
I’ll melt the frozen memories in the sunshine gold.

One time too many
maximum number of hits
heart in rebellion
Keep your own baggage
I can hardly carry mine
help me don't harm me
No way to go back
Heart in hibernation mode
Sweet oblivion

I dream of spending my hibernation
on a coconut palm in the Caribbean
where instead of sleeping
morning, noon and night
I’ll be too busy
chomping down nutty peanut cakes
and sipping daiquiris of acorns and coconuts!
Hey Boo Boo Yoggie
winter has come a calling

Hibernation is the name of the game
As we hunker down today from the rain
200 mph winds were sustained
In that Mexican hurricane
Best let it blow over as to a lamp post we're chained

winter solstice comes
bare trees long hibernation
don’t risk bleeding lips
gardens lie fallow
field mice attempting entry
long dark frigid nights
snowfall slowly melts
winter giving way to spring
first mosquito bite
