Ghosts
Creaking,
My heart is pounding,
Breathing getting heavier,
Dark,
Closest,
Closed,
Dark,
Open,
Dark,
Scary,
No sleep,
Afraid....

Just August
weather in motions,
temptation calls from past flames.
heavier are hearts,
terribly torn from past pain ~
oh, teach us resilience.

Dog Day Afternoon
I start in the morning
With a spring in my step
Like an excited puppy
Full of vigour and pep
But at the end of the day
I walk with a heavier step
And feel less like a puppy
And more like “old shep”...

And If
***(And if ever you don’t see)

And if ever you don’t see
Exodus,
dig in the soil like a fruit
worm
and lift the stone of yourself
heavier,
to find a word
harder than Maya.

And if you ever demand for more,
dig the sky....

The Dream
Sleepless Night

Black cups of coffee - too many

Pacing - endless pacing

Waiting for that which won't come

Desire to have you

Desire too long

Eyes so heavy

Mind heavier still

Almost dawn

Wide awake I dream -

The Dream...

I rise from my sleep
looking outside my window
a tree stands leafless

Holding tight to life
each day's breath is heavier
each has a season

Why I Hate Gravity
heavier than down;
pulling and falling
red-kneeled prayer to the god

of downstairs and tears,
of steps, stones and caves,
flapping like a torn flag

the flag of terra; trapped under
the bricks of this world;
flightless, too low to rise....

King Tut
Young king Tut, time honoured pharaoh
In rage, deaf like the sea, with fires impatience

Boy king worshipped as a God
The daintiest last, to make the end most sweet.

Buried with skill not food for worms
But time for him grants a heavier doom...

Day of Thanks
I thought that my Thanksgiving would be ruined because my cat ran away.
But he returned last night and I give thanks for that today.
I'm thankful for God, my health, my parents and my cat.
My kitty is heavier than a chunk of lead because he's fat....

Going Home
THE CLOSER I GET
THE HEAVIER
MY HEART GROWS
THE SKY
AN INDIGO LANDSCAPE
SURROUNDS ME
LIKE A FOG
THE CLOUDS REACH DOWN
AND TOUCH THE SEA
THE MOON,
ONLY A SLIVER
WAITS IN THE CORNER
MY THOUGHTS LIE
CLOSE TO HEAVEN
WITH YOU.

AUGUST 2000...

The clouds follow one by one as the trees flicker and the leaves turn colors
like a rainbow in the sky when the birds sing as the stars are out bright like a light
in the sky that grows heavier and heavier when the grass grows above your feet
so have something to eat...

Premium Member Unburdened
She carried her hurts like a bag full of rocks
and named it her hard knocks box..
It grew heavier and heavier as she traveled
to and fro so one sunny day, she let them all go...
Now she ambles lightly, at a much easier pace,
without her rocks, there's room for grace...

Premium Member I Feel Slovenly Today
Five pounds heavier today than the week before.
Does that make sense? Could I ask for more?
The same doctor’s scale both of the times?
Am I hiding grapefruit? Have I hidden limes?
Five pounds heavier from Tuesday since last Friday?
I am feeling a bit slovenly. Not tidy....

Cloudy With Sunny Periods
A white spot in the clouds,
a sunflower heavy with seed,
grass too long, should I mow it,
and a blackbird’s wing colours red,

limps on the path and if heavier
crisp snail shells would echo each skip.
Draco, the tomcat eyes me pleased:
only the blackbird bleeds to death....

Tis the Season
Tis the season of high expectation
And disappointing outcomes

Of obligations
And guilty consciences

Tis the season of cellulite
And failed diets

Of sinking self esteem
And blotchy faces

Tis the season of lighter pockets
And heavier souls

Ask and you shall receive...

Bed
Bed

Plump down on the bed,
My head, heavier than before,
Follows my body,
Contently onto the bed.

My arms spread like a crucifix,
A groan escapes my lungs,
the blood-red sheets,
crushed on my bed.

A final smile and I sit up,
Norah Jones sings of new York City,
She does it so beautifully,
on my bed....
