patiently he waits
as slowly
they come closer as
they graze


Coiled up ready to
spring
with a flurry of
speed
he ambushes his prey

deed done

taking it high up
into the tree 

Stashing it between
forked branches
safe from hyenas and
lions

pain of separation from the footprints
