The first night is sweet
Give and take makes it sweeter
For the vow to last,
Love is the answer, mending…
The differences we cast
Just like fertilizing a garden -
You get what you put into life.

Give and take
barbs
then retreat
to wounded silence
licking our lacerations
before picking up
where we left off
with the razor wires.

There comes a moment
when at the crossroads of life...
a need of poetry,
an encompass of one’s self
to give of and to receive.

An Eye for an eye
one heart then two
to give and take
one, not without the other
5/25/14-Jessica Thompson
Yes, we both made
Some mistakes
but
A true love
shall
Give and take
with
Words pouring out
From
these weary clouds
still
Raining inside
both
Our hearts
Here
You May
Have it All
I am glad to
Give
What?
Again?
You’re always
So willing to
Take

Let's start holding hands
Then proceed like thus
We'll hug the first verse
Then kiss the chorus
With lots of repeats
And much give and take
I think you'll enjoy
The song that we make
Filled up again
words pour out
Empty no longer
they whisper and shout
Life’s give and take
torrent to drought
The tide and the flow
—flooding the doubt
(Rosemont College: October, 2022)
Know that you are enough
Neither less nor more
Enough to love and be loved
Enough to give and take
Don’t let people tell you or make you feel otherwise
You are enough!

The buzz
In beehive nest
All in a glow
Sweet honeycombs
All in a row
The colony
Must fight to survive
Two queen bees
Perform the
Dance of death
They give and take
For one busy bee
Shall lead the rest
Love's a blooming gift;
joys of growing love
feeding give-and-take
inflate hearts to lift.

Quid pro quo
Give and take
How it should
Have been
Take take take
Is how things
Really were
50%50% my ass
More like 20% 80%
Not equal at all
Always seemed
To have the
Emotional upper hand
Over me
Beauty unfortold.
Land unforseen.
Life unfold.
Hellish fiend.
Friend and foe
choose your path
For no one knows
one soul's wrath
Love give and take
Yet not from me.
My soul is careless
My heart is free.

If the world would end today-- thank you for touching me,
but...
If the world would end tomorrow-- let my arms be wrapped tightly around you;
For trust encourages hope
and hope enlightens love
and love... is always.

A kind word
A genuine smile
A gentle hug
Don't be so mean
Some love please
For we all need
A patient ear
A helping hand
Give and take
Lets build others
A block at a time
Life is only worth
When shared
In love with love
drip
by drip,
here and there,
close to my art
now,I am at ease;
layer,upon layer
my painting begins to live;
a harmony of give and take,
passivity becomes counterpoint
to the lyrics dancing in my mind's eye
Brian Strand
Here and now
Confront how
Joy slips away
As sadness strays
Give and take
A new make
As touch thrills
A stray fill
Space and time
Wait on rhyme
As chimes breed
Mime that seed

Chickens
Are by far my favorite bird.
They give and take very little.
They kill the bugs on the property,
Not by chemical intervention,
but by simply eating the problem away.
What more can I say.
Chickens are my favorite bird.
A bird's wings may evolve into flippers,
just like the penquin.
The bird loses its ability to fly,
so that the penquin can adapt and evolve to swim.
Evolution is a give and take proposition.
When you adapt and evolve a new ability,
you lose an older one.
