Premium Member Consider the Lilies
“Consider the lilies,” the wise Solomon said They do not spend their time in worry, Though they know they soon will fade ~~ They present themselves in all their glory, Neither genuflecting nor saying they’re sorry.

Genuflecting To Time
somehow there was no way back and it burdened so.
Like a wish that has slowly burned away to embers;
hope seems to have become but a lifeless pile of molted ash.
And the weeping eyes that are reflected in the tears that flow;
Seem to carry a message that may soon become;
The passing melody of an unsung epitaph...

Premium Member The Altar of Years
Most of my flying now
is restricted to planes,
feet less able to
“trip the life fantastic” --

age having slowed fast living
to delayed starts and early
finishes –

joining the genuflecting
lines, many of us
striving for sainthood
in latter years, fingering
rosaries – chanting on knees

converts
at Altar of years…....

Contextual Comrades Incarcerated,

Victims of vitriols vexation
denied the rights of their inquisitors.
Censored by the voices of shame
guilt and hubris masquerading
as righteous indignation.
Virtue’s vanity
shouting from the “bully” pulpit
concerned only with its own reflection
“gutturally” genuflecting
before a muted “god”.

Premium Member A Child Leads Us
We were intimidated by stone man
Wondering why he was genuflecting
We reflected on it as only adults can do
Wesley walked over to touch him and say “hi”.

They had an intense conversation, this toddler and this statue.
We were stunned, realizing Wesley saw a human being
Whereas we had seen stone, not recognizing his humanness.
We all walked over then, grateful a child lead us....

Premium Member Shadow's Fall
How the shadows fall back bowing;
prostrating themselves
before the noon day sun.
Genuflecting as their wooden, vegetative father’s can not.
Performing dance movements of mimicry
the boughs above initiate.

How the shadows fall daringly, dauntless;
dissecting the bleached winter grass,
making perplexing puzzles of mossy patches
creating mystical arteries upon
the breast of Mother Earth....

Premium Member I Feel Her Fury
She is furious; I feel her fury.
Taste her anger; my eyes open from sound slumber.
BANG!
Storm’s loudest cymbal.
I smile, picturing trees lying flat in a straight line
Maybe oaks, genuflecting to her power.

I will come back as a storm.
I will be furious.
I feel and taste my fury,
I am maniacal and mad.
Oaks and elms will lie flat, amazed at my swiftness.

BAM!
I smile, loving her strength.
I hear rain
Gentling her
My eyes close....

Moonlight Sonata Plays
moonlight sonata plays sound waves
Reverberating
     the sordid tune of our last days.
Excruciating
     Pain enters into my mind frame.
Frustrating
     the birth of the universal flame.
Contemplating
     the solution to your pollution.
Educating
     monkeys about their evolution.
Genuflecting
     priests kiss Mary's bleeding stigmata.
Reflecting
     his holy name now and tomorrow.
Reiterating
     moonlight sonata plays sound waves....
