The Altar of Years

Most of my flying now
is restricted to planes,
feet less able to
“trip the life fantastic” --

age having slowed fast living
to delayed starts and early
finishes –

joining the genuflecting
lines, many of us
striving for sainthood
in latter years, fingering
rosaries – chanting on knees

converts
at Altar of years….

ahhh when the dust has settled indeed...grateful i survived me....as mom always said, your past is not who you are, it is your future who you have become. choose your path wisely, it will be who you are remembered....enjoyed the walk with you Joe...

Getting hit the same way. We need not be sainted we already are.

Age can be quite the blessings, Joe. As we age, we get a fuller perspective on life and at some point, we begin to see more clearly. We see both the good and the bad we have contributed to life and an alter is almost always needed to make peace with our soul. Thanks for sharing this soulful poem, my friend. May peace and joy be with you all the days of your life. Bill

Thank you, Bill; indeed, years of experience can make us wiser. Blessings my friend. For sure, prayer, meditation is essential for holy communion.

age having slowed fast living to delayed starts and early finishes--so profound my friend--one can easily relate as we age with wisdom. A time for reflection leads to heavenly thoughts!

Hi Vijay; profound comment. If there was no aging (forever strong and youthful), no trials and errors, no illness and suffering...sadly, there would be very little faith and healthful restraint. Not God's first choice for humanity I lovingly surmise. Blessings my friend.

Thank you, Victor. For sure, never let the past nor present circumstances delay hope and spiritual progress -- God never allows suffering for punishment. The fires of hell are fires of purification. He gives us the choice and duration. All in our own hands. Free Will. The way I see it, anyway. None of this makes sense without the concepts of reincarnation and Karma. Blessings my friend.

The spirit of it is we see the necessity of the spiritual more, today, as our older selves. We are all saints when we’ve given ourselves to Jesus. We love more the folding of hands in meditation of His glory, genuflecting in humbleness as a necessity to attain His beyond belief favor, though not one of us deserve it. God is so good. Bless you!
