A Feast For the Eyes

the snow a clean plate
trace rabbit tracks forked by wings~
              an owl’s repast served

A Fork To Lean On

sweet strewn cedar shavings
Layered bedding soft in stalls
Raked and forked daily
With tender compassion
Companion care for a horse

Red Kite

The fabulous red kite - broad wings, mighty,
Built to soar, beauteous sight !
Red tail forked, in rooftop flight,
Silently swoops for the fight.

Life With T-Rump Xxxvi

We die-hards will never adjourn
From news stories t-rump can churn
With tongue proudly forked
And a dick that's uncorked
He'll bone us cause we can't discern

Once Tempted

laying
looking
for a rainbow

in Eden's garden
my snake finds
a forked tree

standing before me
sap running down
her branch

tempting me
to take
a taste

Lightning

Lightning forked
Its long ivory tongue
Through the rain clouds
Tasting the air like a snake

Laurel Hell

It takes a snake’s forked tongue to kiss and tell
My Blue Ridges turned a Bitter Eden
Of all I’ve known Love is a Laurel Hell
The lowest limb’s fruit all bruised and beaten

Collecting Chemicals

S-nake smells everything
T-hrough the tip of his forked tongue,
C-hecking the scent's point.

Forked Lightning Strikes

Forked lightning strikes

Never on the same branch twice

Split second moment.

Between Crosstalk Buns

Warring kiddies hiss like snakes and stick out forked tongues;
They disagree on who started the fight first; both y e l l i n g..."Liar!"
Parents fish for the truth, sandwiched between the crosstalk.

Majestic Red Kite

Graceful slow motion
         Russet ruler of the skies
                    Soaring on forked tail.

Thunderstorm

Black as coal and moody as teenagers
The storm steadily approaches home,
Rumbling, growing ever louder,
War-like violence above,
Shaking homes and raw nerves
As frequent flashes
Of forked lightning
Light the sky
Soon to
Die.

The Kiss

Your eyes on mine
mine in yours
kiss me
forked lightning
hot and white
from sky to earth...

Root of flowers
springs from the earth
beneath our feet
outside a tree is full bloom...

Our garden
our heart
flutters...

We rebuild
shattered trust....

Growth

Existent justification
denial exceeds reason

egotistical and maniacal

golden tongue
forked intellect

controlling and powerless

higher self
potential serenity

eden slumber
conscious oblivion

mortal, healing, cavernous

For His Art

Bertrand Woodrow Blandings Dade McGory,
experimental author, took the Galesburg Times
(for which he’d forked three dollars, paid in dimes)
and fed it through his blender. His agenda?
“My latest novel seems a little slender:
I needed random input for the story.”

One World What ??

As the political head snakes it's way
...........around the world,
it's tail, still lingers in the mountaintops
with a darting forked tongue, searching prey,
only one of two things can happen....
coil like a constrictor....or,
bite it's own tail, and cannibalize itself....

Darkness Ensues

Darkness ensues as his forked tongue,
Slips his sweeten lies into my mind to form delusions.
Yet I manage to
Resist and pray.
Yet I manage to
Resist and pray.
And cast away this demons leather tongue,
Into its hollow pit,
But can I truly cast it away when it is my own.

The Snake Charmer

He dresses in robes, carefully coiffed He enters the nave, mitre is doffed He preaches a tale, to eager sheep He fleeces their wool, his tithe to keep He blesses the flock, they’ve had their fill He slithers away, forked tongue now still January 1, 2022

Haven

Harassed by forked tongue
Against treacherous rocks flung
Very nearly drowned
Eventually I found
Never-neverland~ Safe ground!

Red Kite

High up in the sky the Red Kite fly
Gazing down upon me,
Searching for pray no matter where it lay
A carcass will do for tea,
With a long forked tail and black tipped wings
Its elegance is plain to see,
It's hard to survive but still its alive
This beautiful bird that fly's free

Quietly Dysfunctional

Mother did not bake apple pies,
but she drank strong cider,
which baked her brains.

Dad had a sharp tongue,
he picked his teeth
with its forked tip.

We were a one child family,
there was a miscarriage.
I recall we butchered the stork.

Mother roasted it,
for us all

that Christmas.

The Crooked and Straight

My advice honest—
A crooked tree told the rest:
Never be so straight.

It's no idle jest,
The axe first falls on the straight,
Crooked is safest.

Came the axe, in haste
Fell on crooked tree's forked fate,
‘As firewood you're great’.

Steward's Folly

A sommelier was known to whine
at pairings made with pork.
The shoulder was in fact divine,
so tender, lightly forked.
Yet she was deign to recommend
a cab or chardonnay.
Esteem I’d had came to an end
though, just the other day;
I saw her swilling Boone’s Farm wine,
complete with plastic cork.

Body Blow

Swollen eyes
drip with clever tears
a thin disguise
years of slippery lies

A loss of face
fools gold in the hand
a rush of space
words snap into place

The silver voice
forked-tongue delivers
practiced poise
cold weapon of choice

The silence breathes
a clock tick-tocks
a body heaves
a lifetime seethes

Not So Divine

Of soothsayer and fortuneteller beware,
False oracles are everywhere.
Predictions of True God’s innermost plan
Comes from the forked tongue of man.

Keep precious Bible close at hand,
Read often so to understand
God reveals all in His own time.
Prepare thee now for Life Sublime.
