Tree Tanka

Tree, fills my window
Red, dotting its massive green
Soon, it will glory
Rioting colours in all hues
Until, it's stark, bare and brown

Frozen In Time

Light tropic breezes
carry colorful balloons
across taro fields

While ancient homesteads
dotting the quiet landscape
stand frozen in time

rain on lake

raindrops dotting lake
with circular rippling mist
shadowing mirror

sun rays chiseling
hieroglyphs reflections
on lake's ice blanket

geese flight departure
one staying with injured mate
God's love reflection

On Writing

Some writers sit in front of a typewriter

I sit in front of a notebook

when the urge hits i caress the words

on paper dotting i's and crossing t's

everything comes together in a beautiful

poem that captures a readers eye

Fingerprint

An onyx ink impression
spirals in unique form,
from the dizzying loops
etched in soft flesh--

where furrows weave
like trenches in the earth,
dotting the surface
with ridges and islands
that protrude in
evidential patterns.

To Be Or Not To Be, That, Is the Gayety Question Dotting, Her Landscapes

When I was a child I thought as a child, reasoned as a child, spoke
As that a child; but when I became a man, I left childish things behind....
Too many 'I's,' we find; tis not my thing this me inside, these eyes ? Mirrors

                                          ...."In Progress." *

Footprints

Hiding the veil of moon light
Amber gold sun's rays
*** burst***
Bringing the arc of a new dawn
Glistening white snow
****reflects***
Like sparkling diamonds
Dotting the landscape
***shining***
Open skies above
Not a cloud in the sky
***footprints***
Imprinted a pathway
on jewel coated snow.

Ikealypse

Patio furniture dotting the curvature of Gaia's voluptuous breast
She smiles as it rusts while we war and we fuss
Clambering for what trinkets are left
She hums, coos and sings with each moment she brings
Selected from a chaotic choir
When she misses a beat
We all squirm in our seats
Vicariously feeding the fire

Btw: Whatever Happened To --

Now that we've solved the mystery
of dotting the i and crossing the t

Whatever happened to dotting the j
and crossing the f -- frankly

And as long as we've come this far
     here's a 'hardy-har-har:'

     If x is for xylophone
     and z is for zoo
Then ILY still says I Love You

Wounded Winter

The crescent moon lent a possessive tinge
to the stratified silhouettes of the wounded Winter sky.
The sliver of silver provided the single, solitary, punctuation
to an otherwise dreary evening.
Soot colored vegetation covered the horizon
As dwelling lights flicked on
dotting the vista like fire flies in night.

Escaping the Cage

Rain dotting puddles on the wet ground
Searching for answers never to be found
Hoping to find truth up above
When the world shows no love
The only way to relate
Is to succumb to the same hate
Knowing it's all apart of the illusion
Finding myself stuck in seclusion
Wanting to see me full of rage
Finally this bird escaped the cage

Trying Now

Listen to poem:
How trivial it seems
the self-imposed stress
of lofty standards
crossing t’s and dotting i’s
in hindsight meaningless

The constant judging
feeling responsible for
the world to be just right
and things just so

Trying now to ask for help
or just be satisfied with less

I Miss Him

I miss him
Yes I miss him
I miss his tenderness and fondness
I miss his gentle composure and his masculine aura
I miss his constant dotting and his unweaving affection
I miss his delightful laughter and his child-like smiles
I miss his fierce passion and his amorous moan
I miss him
With evey ounce and pounce of my soul
I miss him
And with all my heart I will miss him

Pinned Dreams

you are in my heart
you're dotting every i
you're in every thought
that crosses across my mind
you're there in my hopes
and on the end of my line
when my cellphone beeps
it's you every time

as I pin each dream
on each little star
each time I turn around
right there you always are
no rain on the horizon
just skies of purest blue
each dream in my heart
is all because of you

Beauty's Encore

Caught amid this whirlwind
Which arrived so very quickly
Rushing skies and swirling tides
A lifetime dotting about
Lonely streets ?
Running from door unto door
In search of love's heart...
Silhouettes aneath lamp post
Smoke coloured lights; white fangs
Waking up one day, a noteful claim
Rose parades; left upon bended knee
Where blood did flow, atop crystal ware...
Her beauty; lingering now, a shooting star.

Unbridled Rose

The madness of the fog Belittles the woman’s rose She is standing in drizzle Raging from sadness to insanity It becomes known her loss Leaving the lights in fear Shadows play in darkness Still the rain downpours She stands in mockery Wet, cold, and unbridled Her solitary loneliness Peaks by the fogged lamps That radiate outside Dotting the poor landscape Of her dire escape

The Silent Nun

A dull soothing drizzle tickles her skin.
Her scheduled smile failed to arrive.
Dotting the green sea, rhythm and sighs.
Bead after bead she prays:
" Oh Mother, Oh Father.
What shall I do?
My heart fails, the tears fall,
but I do so love you"
Belting chimes, trammels unmoved.
Cursing whipping winds paint the horizon.
Lips caressing each word.
Wading through memories, mist and confusion.
Paletted dress, she sits and says, amen.

Eminent Domain

The numerous dirty-white mounds
Of snow that lined the narrow street
Stood like fortified embankments;
Each varying in height and width
Depending on the autos size.
Each space of eminent domain
Was illegally claimed either
By dozens of plastic lawn chairs,
Trash cans, anything to obstruct
Entry into this reserved spot.
I wonder if the yellow snow
I see dotting a few places
Is from a neighborhood canine
Or from a property owner?

A Day Dream

Soft yellow
      streaked
               the terra cotta
shadowing
        the sallow saffron
             a bluish buff;
the flaxen rubrical
rain-bow tinted
mandarine
                   unseen
tinged burnt sienna
reflecting raw umbery
on the green;
                mosaic gold
mottled the sorrel
virent yellow
               stained
a pale apricot
          redish rust
and dotting
       the lind
                  crimson

Poetry Wars

There are no rules
None at all
Stop dotting I’s, stop crossing T’s
Murder every word
Form is for Bureaucrats, verse for fools
Better a fool than a static form
Use an army of pens and paper and crush all the rules
Grammar, syllables, spelling, all fodder for slaughter
Rules are for dictionaries
Poetry should flow from the soul
If you words sing true from your heart
You have conquered the art of expression
You, my friend have won the war of poetry
