Cosmetics
Now if I mascara this,
Add some red lipstick,
Color blonde in my hair,
Botox if I dare,
Would I make me lovely, indeed,
Or profits for the cosmetic industry?...

Those Blue Eyes
Captivated by her aesthetics as well as her cosmetics,
Her icy blue eyes always complimented by blue sweaters,
With ruby red glasses matching that deep rosé lipstick of hers....

We
the mind thinks

to construct all journeys

even the impossible

for all

members of the planet

who walk disguised

and with cosmetics

and forget

that in the unknowable

we are always one

denuded...

On Her Way To the County Fair
ladybug, ladybug wearing
her fabulous red polka dot dress
while holding her
lovely pink cotton candy handbag
with her beauty cosmetics
while humming a delightful tune
from the old theme song
from the Andy Griffin Show
while strolling along the old country road
towards the Springfield county county fair
quicker than grease lightning...

Loyalty
A strong feeling of support swept through her entire being
She had been in allegiance with her husband of 34 years
She wanted to start her own business selling cosmetics
After raising three kids and experiencing the empty nest syndrome
She wanted to do something for herself
Thankfully her husband was with her all the way
He was totally loyal....

Ah, we ladies never have enough!
Foundations in all shades.
Forever~ in new forms.
Cleansers that promise us youth.
Softeners that hide wrinkles.
Lipsticks, a source of confusion.
Creamy, matte, or gloss?
For me, it is all delusion.
A rainbow of colors for my eyelids.
Is it really me I present?
Or a manufacturers's disguise.

Cat Got My Tongue
Aesthetics, her natural cosmetics. Innocent beauty slipped into my rhetorics. Haunting me quietly, silently hurt, left at a complete loss for words, No more thoughts of her for now, I'd just like to sit this one out. I'm breathless with nothing to say. Wish she'd stay, the next minute push her away. Cat like thief, she stole breaths from my lungs. Cat like thief, she makes me feel so young. Cat like thief, she's off again with my tongue.

Not All Tongues That Wag You Gag
Not all tongue that wag
You dishonorably gag …

Of course not that of my Neighbor
Which assigned to itself Christ’s Labor
For it doesn’t behind lag
And will ever out fag,
While demolishing knickers that sag;
Women that fripperies drag,
Hundreds of cosmetics bag,
Fun always pokes at a hag
Or lanes walk that zigzag
And in the church read a mag!

The tongues that sensibly wag
Should about it richly brag,
Even as their victims nag,
Their anger rocky crag....

Inanimate Thoughts
Our car must wonder why the heck
It isn’t being used.
Cosmetics in my make-up drawer
Are equally confused.

My pocketbook forlornly sits,
Sure it’s been left behind.
My brand-new jumpsuit in the closet’s
Crowded and confined.

My MetroCard and cash are tucked
Inside my wallet’s folds,
Perplexed at never leaving,
Stuck inside their stuffy holds.

I must be going crazy
Thinking ‘bout these lifeless things
But when boredom is the way of life,
Some merriment it brings....

It's a joy to let go.
To stop being perfect, such agony.
More glory, in just being me.
To let it be OK, to not be top banana.
There's no Oscar win~ and then...
Simply end up looking old and worse..
Than Quasimodo's sister, Susanna!
Serenity has magic cosmetics of its own.
Peace in your heart, no need to be bold.
Loving others, more than yourself.
Give up trying to impress, comment more!
Quit looking for praise.
These contents of my lazy day.

A Girl's Fantasies
Set neatly on her dressing table
Are make-ups and lip sticks.
All sorts of nail polish,
And glittering jewelry
Now lie upon
Her once untidy desktop.
No more Dolls and Tea sets,
And no more "wearing Mommy's clothes".
No more tea parties and Barbie houses
That used to emphasize her childish games.
Thus i find her room
Filled with posters of pop stars and boys,
with various magazines and books,
Cosmetics and perfumes.
She is not the little girl she once was,
For now she has grown....
