Citizens ire and fervour a shocking jolt
Unleashing coffers, promising change they molt
While cleansing their streets with rifle and Colt

Western pots fizzle and stew
Chafing but swallowing the spicy brew
Heartburn follows; the potion they slowly chew
The side effects their sensitive systems do rue...

Could ask for proof
Of insanity
In a doctors authoritative opinion

Avoid the brain drain
because the permanent records track
Putting the mark of cain
On social histories of the past...

in ways we don't anticipate.

…where all their many words are heard
and they can make us feel absurd.

…where they will have the self-same rights	
as lowly humans in their "heights".

…where they don't have to bend heads low,
put on a base and servile show.

…where dogs can frolic without chains, 
horses are free from chafing reins.

…where no species is endangered
and each can live in its own herd....

During the frigid night
Hoarfrost has embraced her branches
As a tight fitting tunic,
Tailor made, just for her.

Night wind's chafing bite
Has long since given way to crisp morning air,
And snow has lengthened into fog,
Past where aqueous eyes can take in.

Facing east, car's window rolled down,
A broken barb wire fence, this tree,
And a subtle hint of promise,
Where a rising sun will soon be.

This tree sat alone in a large pasture and was a sight to behold....

clothes pins
humming
on long forgotten
lines

bare branches
chattering
at each gust
of icy rain

church bell clappers
nudging
the edge
of solemn psalms

distant chimes
telling us tales
if we but
listen.
