Eyes Pierced By Flakes

Eyes, tainted by snow flakes of damp memoirs; spiky frostbites chafing her irises. Drained lids quiver on a funeral trail lacing sharp ache; iced droplets pierced like flakes. Andrea Dietrich's Contest LEAF, FEATHER, SHELL or FLAKE 8/4/2014: Form: Tetractys Theme: Flakes

I'm currently doing a school project on Tetractys. I had to look at ten that I liked from the internet. In my list, this one is my all time favorite. I love this poem and how its simple but makes you think. Thank you for creating such a lovely poem. ~ Carrie

Brings sad and poignant images to mind, Nette. I love the way you used "spiky frostbites chaffing" and "lacing sharp ache." Congratulations.

melancholy, musing, intriguing...for me, it conjures the image of someone tearful at a bleak funeral in mid winter...a good rendering of a very restrictive form - congrats on your win!

Nette, I like how this seemed to be a contradiction of sharpness(pain) with the softness of the flakes. Kind of a deep one for me, but I sure love the way you used the sounds. Congrats for your win in my contest.

The bitter cold winds on a winters day always makes the tears fall from my eyes.... but, I think there is something more to this poem than just a natural reaction to the cold.... I love the depth in this melancholy piece. Lovely work, Nette. Good luck in Andrea's contest!

Oh, yes, putting emotions with the icy snowy day. A great idea, Nette. Better than average tetractys.
