Premium Member Watch Out For the Shadow Tree
Cautioned to look out for the shadow tree
She is spiderlike with white tentacles
Her venom kills on Halloween night
We screamed at her when they turned out the light...

Trying to look like she belonged
At the Scottish wedding
Death found her

And escorted her out
Wrong wedding he cautioned her
She was young,
Glad she had saved her wail....

slowing the limelight, brings in assisted suicide
the huge footprints they track

Sacred Scarred Goddess
Wrapped in scars like punishment tattoos
each glance a challenge or a warning
Time stopped in slightest wrinkle
and other faucets caught in simple moment
but eyes
that told the story
and cautioned
pick a side
no falter

Subtle
The expedition of fine love
Is always rewarded with wine
Never to be overwhelmed
Cautioned to bitter
But its outcome is sweet
For in a heart shelters
The dew of a tear
Carried for mercy
Showed for comfort
But in all this we miss
A step and the wine is left spilled...

Untitled #6 / the Boy
The boy heard the familiar tune
wafting through the radio at midnight
as he lay alone in his bed, enshrouded
in darkness – “to be a rock and not erode”
cautioned the singer, but the boy
could not help but wonder
who his girl was making love to that night
and he could not help but cry....

Unwelcomed Silence
In the long silence
Of night fall
I urge my heart not to cry,
As I push aside the haunting
Yesterdays shared by you and I...

Hush!
I cautioned the wind,
Do not whisper his name and
Then I prayed to be strong enough,
To laugh again when morning light
Comes and caresses my heart.

Cynthia...

Does Bible Allow Protestants a Divine Feminine Aspect
John Meyendorff makes a careful case that the Holy Spirit can be interpreted as a Feminine Aspect in the Trinity. He is clear that Only the WORD became flesh as Jesus Christ. But in Meyendorff's chapter in a volume edited by Dow Kirkpatrick (1974) titled THE HOLY SPIRIT, we are cautioned NOT to slide into Gnostic beliefs....

Premium Member Lying In Wait
All was quiet on the eastern front, and the southern front too.
We faeries were lying in wait, hoping the elves would be back soon.
A troop of brownies wandered by, drunk on sunflower seed oil.
Hush! The queen cautioned us. We transmogrified into flowers.
We certainly do not need a brownie skirmish before an elf battle....

Premium Member Dream Child Mode
Shh! Grandma cautioned her parents. She is in dream child mode.
The paisleys and oranges and polka dots are gearing up her dendrites.
Driving her REM to the world of magic, you need to let her be.
She’s an astral traveler, her Daddy said to Grandma. Nothing will wake her up.
Her dendrites were a rocket ship, blasting toward mystical imagination....

Premium Member Not Your Name
Three delicate night faeries
Lighter than firefly dew
Flickering in the meadow
Beyond the ocean blue

Showing us the way
To secrets unknown to many
I heard one of them whisper
My name is Penny

Not your name! another cautioned her
That might turn mortals in the wrong direction
I smiled at Penny, the loose-lipped faerie.
Suddenly feeling a bit of joyful affection....

Premium Member It Is Not Easy Being Animal Friendly
I sit outside wondering what those bossy raccoons are doing in the kitchen.
They threw me out assuring me that spaghetti making is their specialty.
Do not let the crows in, I cautioned them. They steal my shiny jewelry.
It is not easy being animal friendly. I sit on the porch, trying not to hear
My husband’s favorite drums being played in the living room.
Obviously those bozos have let the opossums in!...

Premium Member Who Is Going To Tell Her
Who is going to tell her we asked each other,
Your sister, your aunt, married to your brother.
Tell her in a nice way we cautioned the loser,
Sandra glared at us, the worst straw chooser.

She sat and stared but did not talk at all.
Supposed to tell her today, not next fall.
We knew this could quickly go south,
for a fly does not enter a closed mouth…

Premium Member Grandpa Explains the Grading Scale
Grandpa’s barn held many secrets
We were cautioned to never open the boxes out there
We figured there were skulls and bodies in them.
When we were six we opened some

Found report cards but did not understand the A’s and B’s.
We were graded with S’s and G’s at the time.
Took them to Grandpa who explained them this way.
A for awful, B for Bad, C for Correct, D for danged Good and F for fine.

Grandma had been an awful student!...

Premium Member We Cannot Take Passengers
We cannot take passengers mice cautioned me
But the blue spotted frog was desperate you see
Hang on to the fender, I told him in the kindest way
Thanks for the ride! He said. You have made my day!

A miniature chickadee swooped down from her perch.
We are delivering groceries! Yelled out the grouchy mouse Berch.
It is okay, I told him as long as we get it all delivered today.
We picked up six more passengers before the end of the day....

Premium Member Hurricane Sunday
Hurricane Sunday

The rest of us
were not interrupted..
But an entire state
was interrupted..
Living there once
we were cautioned:
residence here is living
with the hurricane
not if..but when..
When arrived early
 Sunday morning..

A wish for those there:
May the peace of the eye
be found in your hearts
and may the eye expand
calming your winds
and your waves
for a lasting peace
coming ashore on this
Hurricane Sunday......

Nursing School Dropout
The young woman peered into the room
She saw a large legless blind man
Uncovered and naked on the bed
The nurse nudged the woman forward
And warned her not to dawdle
The nurse declared that the man needed a sponge bath
Had the disease of diabetes
Had not taken care of himself
So we have to – take care of him, that is
After a final push, the nurse cautioned the woman
Dear, be careful around his thingy
I do not need this man getting excited...

Premium Member Get Rid of the Interloper
I was cautioned, he is a master chessman, so if we go ….
We have to not even whisper, and we have to tiptoe
I was expecting an owl, for I had heard he was a fowl.
I was shocked to see it was a parakeet and uttered a vowel.

The parakeet said get rid of the interloper and I was led away
So I did not see the match between him and Alice that day.
I never went back, for they had put me in jail.
And I decided to stay, for it was a place to get mail....

Premium Member My Pre-Posthumous Explanation For My Preference to Compose Strictly in Verse
99 per cent of those who come to like my verse will likely not have heard of me while I was still alive...
But...knowing well that finely-metered -- perfect-rhyming poems are mostly what, for countless years, have tended to survive,

I elected, from the start...while Academia cautioned...“Few are keen on cadence, sir…and less are fond of rhyme”...
To join the ranks of kindred poets...penning what I feel shares the authenticity that’s stood the test of Time....

Night Grief
Needless to cry.
My days are dry.

Those of shine are long gone.
now am left alone to mourn.

If I had eyes I would have seen.
But days like this are unforeseen.

She came so lovely and smart.
Blindly to me only a tat.

Others cautioned; but to me they Pseud and pry.
Yet now each night I grief in sly.

Then she weren't better than a moth.
But in present days I see her worth.

Harbor those feelings you see in those eyes.
But you let it go....; that's exactly when you realize....

Premium Member Waiting For the Baby
Standing on a stump, looking down the road..
Waiting for the old truck to come into view.
Brother watching from the roof.. In trouble again.

At last it chugged around the corner..
Smiling faces that cautioned- “quiet now”..
A small blue bundle cradled in loving arms.

At last, the most beautiful face we’d ever seen..
Then that face let out a god-awful screech….
We looked at each other..both thinking..
                   - Maybe this isn’t going to be so great after all!...

Lost Souls
Together they walked into a deep mist,
as they salvaged for what remained
of their souls. Their hands were held
together in a straight line. Each person
had a name for his or her soul on their palms.
"Do not let go each other's arms!"
they cautioned each other.
Little did they know their souls didn't
want to be found;
didn't want to return to their bodies;
they had experienced lots of misery
in their past lives.
They just wanted their bodies long gone;
in their graves.......
