Nursing School Dropout

The young woman peered into the room She saw a large legless blind man Uncovered and naked on the bed The nurse nudged the woman forward And warned her not to dawdle The nurse declared that the man needed a sponge bath Had the disease of diabetes Had not taken care of himself So we have to – take care of him, that is After a final push, the nurse cautioned the woman Dear, be careful around his thingy I do not need this man getting excited

Your poem made me sad Laura as i thought of our friend's brother who has lost both feet and is blind due to not following his diet for diabetes - he now lives in a care home and just sits in a chair all day - the final line about the bed bath did make me smile though!:-) hugs jan xx
