Today dear wifey poo will be having cataracts removed This weenie here cringes at the thought, heartily disapproves Rather use a cane No needle that's insane To inflict this torture, surgeons are surely unmoved

Sailing Through

Life
sails through
the blind turns
zig-zagged all-through;
Surprises surfaced -
Dimensions of truth changed
Mind's vision got clearer
with the cataracts of eyes
Let the inner light guide you through
this abyssal depth of life's ocean
Let wisdom accompany the voyage...

Cataracts

Kiss my eyes

with your lips,

inhale the visions,

peel ing strips,

cataracts

from all the years,

layered horrors,

gathered fears,

gently excise with

your blade,

honed down from

the love we made,

clouded corneas
of pain

to

let me see

love's light

again.

For Every Beauty, Each Loving Action

I
For every scene: washing waterfall
For any gift for my children, phonecall
For every travel you made possible
I feel so grateful, hopeful, O Eternal

II
For even in pollution, this unknown lake
Is a source of beauty: ibis, coot, drake
For ducks, too, and unknown cataracts
I celebrate Creator's provision, love-acts

Pandemonium
Pandemic

Frightening
Forest fires

Polar bears dying
Climate change

Depleting ozone layers
Exacerbates cancers and cataracts

Mask versus no mask
Political parties fighting harder than ever

Black lives matter
Versus The police

Fox news
Versus all other news stations

Chaos

bald eagle circling bare fields

cropped grain in sharp focus -

hare fair game for nature’s call

waterfall refusing to rise above

climatic change to see for all -

central vision gravely impaired

cataracts speeding up shadows

snow fall veils scarred curtains-

crow cautiously picks bull’s eye

The Music of the Spheres

Sweet doves, voices dripping
From the rustling tips of leaves
Spring comes singing from the trees
Hear the waters chorus
Rivers dancing down the mounts
To wake the loud snoring seas

My own heart, the drum
Throbbing with happiness, shouts
Splashing cataracts of glee
O sweet orchestra
Of love what melody breaks
From God’s great eternity!

Doctor My Eyes

I’ve had my eyes tested
And I am 20/20
I am not short sighted
Nor long sighted
My eyes are healthy
There is no glaucoma
No floaters
Nor cataracts
My sight is perfect
So why is it
When I look at you
I see an angel
When you are anything but
I asked the optician
Why, with such perfect vision,
Can I not see betrayal?
He told me
That I have perfect vision
Its just rose tinted

My cataracts are common and very aggravating
I’m told everyone over forty has them,
They certainly are on the optic nerve grating
By distorting and causing my vision to dim.

Trying to watch a movie is certainly frustrating
As faces are contorted and scenes become grim
While blinking often my eyes are adjusting
And tears are flowing from my eyes’ outer rim.

Fiend For Friend

You have ever seen it happen
Blindly you fall in love on the way
Joy all over your heart
But she is a girl fiend

Another one appears in horizon
Grapple with her you do
Cataracts all over your face
But he is a fiend fiend

In the Facebook she smiles
Curiously you take on her
Saliva rolling as pages roll on
But she is only a fiend

Human heart is a mystery
In need of a friend, a fiend comes

No, Not a Trend! This Is a Waking Life!

Blinded by the flash, the mirror causes cataracts.
Shocking actions, and taken back by this flesh.
Silhouettes on the wall, grinning at the darkness.
Feels warm on the outside, chilled on the inside.
Pain is all that is real, rusty needle in the skin.
Shattered, broken bones. No limbs, amputee.
Bringing back death! Preaching to the choir.
No need for the razor. No need for this rope.
Suicide was so five minutes ago.

COPLA CINCUENTA Y CINCO: This Bad Guy World

Centre-half’s the heart of defence
Danger comes from the Right and Left:
Ball politics

When heart’s corrupt fickle sans sense
Enemy dribbles through with zest:
Goal posts drumsticks

The second line’s the general
Prince and people rally round him:
Alert spearhead

Goal keeper pulls skin over all
Defence cataracts make him victim:
Balls bounce dead ahead

Wearing Out

For most of the people I know,
Our ages are starting to show
And since eyes, hips and knees
Don’t come with warranties,
To replace them’s the best way to go.

Thus, for cataracts or the main joints,
Pain or blurriness usually points
To a doctor who will
Send a Medicare bill
When a new lens or bone he anoints.

Just like houses and care, things wear out
And it isn’t enough just to pout.
Let the surgeon repair
What needs fixing, so there
Will be years left to gambol about.
