Wearing Out

For most of the people I know, Our ages are starting to show And since eyes, hips and knees Don’t come with warranties, To replace them’s the best way to go. Thus, for cataracts or the main joints, Pain or blurriness usually points To a doctor who will Send a Medicare bill When a new lens or bone he anoints. Just like houses and care, things wear out And it isn’t enough just to pout. Let the surgeon repair What needs fixing, so there Will be years left to gambol about.

So far I have all my original bones and organs, except a few new teeth. My mother died at 97 with only her gall bladder missing. May I be as fortunate. / Maurice

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Replaced one knee in 2016. Used a top doctor. Here are the results: One slightly usable new knee. One completely screwed-up spine. Recurring lymphedema. Insufferable insomnia. So, no thanks to any more new parts for me. ~ Just sayin'
