I muddle through the day
like an old tire being
dragged out of a muddy pond.

Words and days come and go -
an expression fumbles 
out of my mouth.
Just another day of tediousness 
and exaggerations.

I would ask you to come
with me but I know
you'd never go back
to Idaho -
days upon days of snow
buckling the power lines
and rooftops.

my knees

my heart

shattering,
me from
breaking.

the locket
which he
had casually
slipped
around
my neck
i now
clutched

my hands.

them let

dropping
onto the
thin glass
that separates
