Beatrice

Beatrice
lives down the block
she
likes her porch
she has a big
darning basket
with socks
and yarn
Beatrice
lives in that rocking chair
I swear
back and forth
when we run by to the store
for popsicles
she never gets one

We Will Never Forget

9/11 - We Will Never Forget!

Unbelievably
The mighty towers crumbled
Grieving loved ones prayed
That God had spared their loved ones
While victims jumped from windows!

Dante Alighieri

He felt his heart awaken
When he saw Beatrice
Coming towards him
One verse was pursuing another verse-
One bliss was pursuing another bliss,
Mysterious like a moon kiss
The sky above Florence was so bright
While his star was dancing every night

I Once Drank a Glass of Champagne Limerick

For Francine Robersts contest....Pick A Beverage

I once drank a glass of champagne
Then ran naked into the rain
I love all the bubbles
But it caused so much trouble
I’ll never drink it again!

Wining and Dining

Wining and dining!

I enjoy a good glass of wine
Whenever I go out to dine
But the prices are steep
So I make sure I keep
The rest to take home cause it’s mine!

Canto Dreams

(A weary voice whispers)

Like a slave to love
I once looked for true completeness

But like Beatrice and Dante,
There was always a great barrier

Between us

Carved In Stone

Here lies Bea At a hundred and three
In the place she vowed She’d never be
She always swore She’d never die
Till all who bugged her
In the grave would lie
She hung on tight To the very end
No foe was left For flowers to send
Let’s raise a glass And shed a tear
She sure raised hell while she was here!

Fears and Fantasies

Fears and fantasies entwine
to make a whole picture of life.

We fantasize a life of love...adventure...incredible achievements
as we soar far above the common man,
to a level that no man has ever
gone before.

We stand at the edge of the surf
but alas,
we are too timid to place
a toe in the water!

I Will Never Love Again

I will never love again and give my heart away
As I have done with you my love
Though now you've gone away.
I will never love another as I have worshipped you
And worked and prayed for your success
In all you tried to do.
I will never love again
And let my poor heart bleed
For even though God called you home
You're all I'll ever need.

Premium Member website bio

“She is mercurial
Not flighty, but open
Rarely frivolous, but agile
A delightful chameleon, a risk-taker
She inspires others”

“Hey!” Said my cousin Beatrice
As she read these words over my shoulder.
“That sounds more like you than me!”

I was embellishing her bio on a dating website
Knowing it was more me than her
But eager to get her a match
Hoping I could stop supporting her
If she found a man

I Never Said Goodbye

I never said goodbye the day you went away
Goodbye was just a word that my heart couldn’t say
But my world fell apart on that dark, dismal day
For forty years we had been wed,
We were children when we met
And though you had to go on ahead,
My heart will not forget
You promised you'd always be with me
That we would never part
And so I keep you my darling
Nestled deep within my heart

God Is Our Umbrella

God is our umbrella in the storms of life
Ready to shield us from the rain
But we must remember to always carry it with us
Not put it aside, hoping the sun will always shine
Rainy days are blessings in disguise
For it is then that lessons are learned
And if we take good care of our umbrella
Not carelessly putting it aside
It will always be there for us
Shielding us from whatever storms may come.

Vanity, Thy Name Is Woman

Vanity…Thy Name Is Woman!

My house is on fire
What shall I do
I’ve seconds to decide
My choices are few
Shall I grab my money
My precious jewels
Or my brand new furry
Bedside mules?

This smoke is deadly
I can hardly breathe
I make a mental list
Of what to bequeath
But live or die
I’ll wear my designer dress
I’ve got to look great
For all the press!

Asia Is Larger Than a Novel 2

To live is to forgive,
To the girl who wears makeup over her vacuum cleaner,
To the shy writer who won the Nobel Prize,
To the growing silence of Icelandic whales and sperm whales,

To live is to forgive, Joseph Kessel, Beatrice,
To the panther-sized dancer,
Who leaves you on Valentine’s Day,
For touching you that you are not the center of the world,
Like Joseph Kessel, nor Edgar Allan Poe or Baudelaire.

To live is to forgive.
Asia is larger than a novel by Joseph Kessel.
