The Wire
You're taking my life,
to hold in your hands,
a chemical surprise,
on amphetamine sands,

and I'm taking your heart,
though painful to me,
because the body is worthless,
if the mind isn't free....

My Amphetamine

Poetry's my amphetamine,
My brain's everyday vitamin,

It is a cure for my boredom,
My heart's expression of freedom,

My placebo for the day,
It keeps all my fears at bay,

The prescription for my disease,
It keeps my soul and mind at ease,

My drug, my pill, my medicine,
Poetry's my amphetamine.

Somewhere, Under the Rainbow
The ghost of Judy Garland
Is visible at night:
Amphetamine-white phantom
Floats through the moon-mist light.

The Emerald City’s toppled,
The yellow bricks are dust,
And Dorothy’s dead in Kansas;
Tin Woodman’s gone to rust.

The ghost of Judy Garland is audible as well—
New York, New York’s her kind of town—
Manhattan-angel’s Hell....

Shaving Minutes
In sync with your cadence
Your heart pounds
Your blood as hot as your rubber
Every molecule so engorged
Sweat alone separates you from your chrome
While you peel off a spoke fine line
Through rush hour traffic
Tearing a strip off of death

High
On a deadline

Enantiomers do not make my amphetamine.
No cognitive enhancers do I need.
Don’t bother giving me that crazy Benzedrine.
Imagination was my mind’s first seed.

I need no extra sleep; I’m sufficiently awake.
I”m not depressed; no euphoriant for me!
My needs are met; I sure want nothing fake.
I get high on life and poetry!

Amphetamine
Expositions delight, I have it now,
into the mirror I take a bow.
My narcotic panic,
for my inner wack cynic.

A saber in my hand,
ready for battles in the sand.
And drop focus onto my heart,
I just to began to start.

Tweak on my freak on,
constantly play like Tron.
but I cannot respond,
I'm going at her like James Bond.

Am I at a show?
Or just watching the traffic move slow?
Don't matter! - I won't go!
Not until this last rock does glow....
