Ambivalence

Two Sides To Everything

When autumn comes
is winter far away?
Every silver lining
has a cloud.
This is the best of all possible worlds.
So says the optimist,
so says the pessimist too.

tenuous strands
lithely tethering
the soul to reality...
strummed unevenly
by life

sharp notes
compose
a subtle dirge
of mournful
ambivalence

Ambivalence and anxiety
Motivate or moot?
Benefit or blockage?
Intensify internal indecision
Trajectory or tranquility?

Her

Hungry for everything, most of all for this sound.
How good it is that he is there and doesn't see me
A pageant of ambivalence squeezes my chest and finds solace in pain.
I am a girl. But to speak this way, I shall never learn.

Find the happy ending.

You don’t need to pretend.

There are lights dancing on the horizon
They shine with imbued ambivalence
I can touch nothing but my eyes reflect
Shining orbs of transience

Floating.

Away.

Lines Composed With Evan

The Staring Contest

He stares
	In the childlike ambivalence
			Of all things,
And I stare,
	In the adult like return
			Of all things,
Sharing in the ambivalence of all things—
This is, of course, but a whisper or
			secret,
			Of what youth brings.

all at once
        a point of repose,
without end
        my journey
unresolved-
ambivalence
blooms in isolation,
doubt
swirls and surges
back & forth
pushing and pulling...
frailty writ large
in longed for
silence..
suddenly it abates..
...bliss at last

Reception

There is no fireplace
in your room
so I cannot come up;
still, the borders of your smile
eclipse my ambivalence,
warn of belatedness.

I journey home
and slip into sleep
fix my gaze into nightspace,
linger half-awake,
remember your whispers
when we were seventeen.

Threadbare Heart

a slight feeling of ambivalence,
the merest hint of cold indifference
crushes all the confidence
that's in a threadbare heart
take care, take time, show tenderness,
each simple smile's a rich indulgence
that costs but a moment of patience
and restores a threadbare heart

A reckless drunk driver t-boned her son's vehicle
killing him instantly, and her anger is understandable.
She's wondering "Should I forgive, or is it too soon?"

Like gold of Havilah
   God is true and straight.
I can exhort Adonai
   For His tender heart.

Be it ambivalence
   Or the hour of drear
Wherever prayer is
   The Lord abides there.

Royalty and rivalry
   May erupt with hate
But He will take my leave
   Untouched by the flame.

Hard Around the Heart

You find me
Cold
Bitter
I am not yours to touch
To have
To hold
No softness to envelop you
No love to comfort you
Only emptiness
Ambivalence to greet you
Reach for me and I will prick you
Leave you
Cold
Lost
Hard around the heart
I am not yours to hold
You will not reach me

Lines Composed at a Mid-day Meal

To stare in ambivalence
At all things
Is to be in reverence
Of all the small things
Like what a child brings
For, like a bird visiting upon my door
My sweet adoring child
Sings only of his joy for all.
After all, that is what love is for.
When children come to call.

Inside, Outside

inside chambers hidden deep...
inside tissue, capillary and vein...
inside pumps the memories of love...

outside showing for all to see...
a negative of transparency...
projected on ambivalence...

inside, outside all gets mixed...
spilling over when it gets too thick...
can they see me inside out...

am I outside looking in...

In Response To Marjory Wentworth Poems

Have bent all rules to meet my needs;
Satisfy egotistical desires and greed's;
My goals meet;
Others defeat;
With ambivalence and hatred leads.

Ambivelence

Ambivalence

Should I continue to live
Or should I just die
There is no joy or happiness
No love
Only feeling alone
I don’t feel anything
No ambition or dreams
No motivation or desires
Only an empty and numb feeling
That goes on day after day
Stuck in my room
No light or darkness
Only a continuous dull grey cloud
That hangs over me

Oh Sweet Spring

Help me spring i wish to abolish winters melancholy ways send
your wipers of summer so that we may shake the foundation of
mothers ambivalence cohered her with your scents and colorful
flora for she seems to have become absent of mind and heart
wallowing in her winter satin remind her the path of your warm
pastures to seed summers germination

Smokeless Climax

Ambivalence – her bittersweet response
to the arcane quiescence of the tactile
invisibility – the quintessence of the
intercessor’s immolation of her dreams
upon the luscious flamboyance
of his passion.

Ambivalence

How long obstinate truth will surprise you?
The moment like slippery things
Mixed emotions breath poison
The blue sky in the plain...

Hanging decision uncertainly attacks
Snake of blood that crawls the heart.
To put punctuation mark
In the uncaught wishes
Dust gathers towards Happy-go-line.

Millions of voices alarm self-image.
What's the use of grey documents then?

Premium Member Some Day

Someday when I leave this place,
To walk another land,
I'll gladly cast my soul aside,
To please the master's hand.

Earth is here to offer penance
To fools born into innocence.
As they give up their gift of freedom
To serve in tense ambivalence.

I refuse to serve that master.
No pious shackles burden me...
I wander with a pristine heart,
In all places I choose to be.

About a Shadow

Behind me lies a shadow In lights that yellow glisten. (one) Direction remains unknown Secrets live inside (and) listen— For if I lost this shadow; Exquisite fate would seem so shallow. Into the depths of privacy... Ambivalence swells inside of me. Bent from your shapes, found within; Secrets lost be found again. 5-20-2020
